Set in the rolling hills of Tuscany between Florence and Siena, Il Rondine is situated in an 11th century Italian hamlet surrounded by pristine Tuscan landscape. The charming 3 bedroom/3.5 bath apartment includes a private garden and shared access to a large swimming pool (16m x 8m) equipped with a pergola and chaise lounges, making it an ideal home base for the perfect Tuscan holiday.
This three bedroom vacation home is composed of two apartments that are combined through an interior connecting door (over 1615 sq. ft.) complete with a fully equipped kitchen, a separate kitchenette, two living areas and many other modern amenities to make your vacation tranquil and comfortable. The property's original layout allows flexibility for families or a group of friends who want to be together yet have some privacy. There are two separate entries, and the apartments can be closed off to make them individual, yet together.
From your Tuscan vacation rental, enjoy lovely views of the nearby village of Casole d'Elsa and the picturesque courtyard. The garden and grounds also offer spectacular vistas of the classic Tuscan landscape. This charming haven, formerly a rectory, is entered from the ground floor of the stone building by a flight of stairs to the living area. A book-lined hallway opens onto a large living room and dining area. Striking brick vaulted ceilings highlight the villa's original details and classic allure.
The modern, well-appointed kitchen located off of the main living area is equipped with a 5-burner cook top, gas oven, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, stone countertops, and everything you would need to cook up an Italian feast. The separate kitchenette includes a 4-burner cook top, refrigerator, and a dishwasher. The second living area, which houses a beautiful wood-burning fireplace with an ancient, hand-carved stone frame, and mantelpiece, is a cozy place to unwind after a day spent exploring nearby Tuscan villages.
Outside and around the back of the unit is a private garden dotted with lavender and other Tuscan flora. This is the perfect spot for delicious meals al fresco, enjoying the majestic scenery under the Tuscan sun or for evening star gazing. Prepare meals and drinks poolside thanks to the adjacent kitchenette (and bath), or grill up some local market finds on the outdoor grill. The large outdoor stone table, with seating for 8, guarantees memorable evenings spent lingering over dinner.
The large pool, located across the lawn, is shared with the other residents of the hamlet. It is the perfect place to relax after a day of touring, and enjoy gorgeous landscape.
This Tuscan vacation rental is perfect for relaxing and discovering the delights of Tuscany. San Gimignano, Monteriggioni and Volterra are less than a 40-minute drive through the luscious Italian countryside. With their numerous artistic gems and historic monuments, Siena and Florence are respectively 40 minutes and 1 hour 10 minutes from the villa.
The nearby village, Colle di Val d'Elsa, is located above the river Elsa on the ancient Via Francigena, the medieval main road frequented by pilgrims and merchants travelling to Rome from Canterbury and northern Europe. Famous for its crystal production, the village currently produces 15% of the world's crystal.
Colle di Val d'Elsa counts a number of businesses, including a well-stocked supermarket, pharmacies, a cinema, handicrafts, fashion, and restaurants. There are some excellent local trattorias a short drive from the villa and a chef is available upon request to prepare gourmet evening meals in the privacy of your Tuscan rental. Olive and wine tasting, biking tours, cooking classes, hot air balloon rides, guided excursions of Siena, Florence and other points of interest can all be arranged upon request.
