About
This Space

With views directly on the tree-lined Canal St-Martin, this bohemian chic boutique apartment rental is the ideal Parisian hotel alternative. Just a stone’s-throw from the trendy Marais and Place de la République, the Canal St-Martin is a true Parisian neighborhood with countless delightful cafés, shops, and delicious restaurants within easy reach of the city’s main attractions.

Upon entering your Paris vacation rental, you will find eclectic French décor, with antique herringbone parquet, elegant crown moldings, a designer kitchen, as well as hip furniture and color schemes within a spacious setting ideal for families or groups. The large windows give directly onto the canal and provide wonderful natural light and beautiful treetop views. The living room has a comfortable double-sided leather sofa and a decorative marble fireplace ideal for get-togethers. The custom built cabinetry of the kitchen provides ample surfaces and storage for cooking with its marble countertops, island with butcher’s block, and gas burning stove.

The large master bedroom, with its restful color palette is furnished with a queen bed and features a whole wall of storage space. Its two large windows provide rooftop views; perfect for a good night’s sleep. The en suite bathroom tiled with crisp subway tiles and vintage style brass fixtures includes a walk-in shower, toilet, and sink. Similar in size to the master, the second bedroom offers a queen-sized bed and a large sofa that turns into a queen bed. The room can either be used as a bedroom or as a cozy TV room, since it features a large flat screen television. The smaller, but inviting third bedroom also offers a queen bed, a marble fireplace, and a seating area perfect for reading a good book.

The large bathroom situated at the entrance of the apartment is shared by the two other bedrooms and is identical in style to the master en suite. It has a large soaker tub, which also doubles as a shower with a hand-held and mountable showerhead. For maximum privacy, the WC is separate.

The comfort and elegance of this vacation rental extends to the greater building. With an attractive and typically Parisian facade, the main entry leads into marble hallways and a small elevator (with one flight of stairs to descend to the apartment on the third floor), making the apartment easily accessible and secure.
The Canal St Martin neighborhood is a wonderful place to come back to after a long day of sightseeing.

About
The Area

This colorful and bohemian-bourgeois (or "bobo" as Parisians call it) neighborhood has emerged as one of Paris‘ trendiest over the last ten years. The 19th-century waterway, beginning at Porte de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement, is lined with shabby-chic bars, such as the classic Chez Prune, as well as innovative restaurants, like Cartel, a Japanese tapas spot. You can easily spend a day exploring the entire canal on foot, but you may also opt to take a cruise tour, or even rent a private, electric boat with friends. The area is rife with artistic inspiration, whether at the MK2 movie theatre on the Quai de la Loire, Artazart bookstore, 104 cultural center, or the concert venue and bar at Point Ephemere. Rue des Vinaigriers and rue de la Grange-aux-Belles are two adorable streets on opposite sides of the canal where you‘ll find hip cafes, bakeries, and concept shops worth exploring. As you make your way closer to the historic Place de la Republique, you‘ll pass two of the city‘s most sought-after bakeries: Liberte and Du Pain et Des Idees. And in addition to the stellar French options around the canal, including Le Verre Vole and Les Enfants Perdus, feel free to also explore Paris‘ best international options, such as the gourmet tacos at Cafe Chilango, American-style brunch at popular Holybelly, or top-notch Asian food at Le Cambodge. Travel further afield to rue Oberkampf and rue Parmentier for even more of the city‘s most happening new eateries. On rue de Marseille, you‘ll find outlet stores of French brands such as Bel Air, Maje, Claudie Pierlot, and Les Petites, but the Bastille neighborhood and the Marais are an easy walk or metro ride away, if you‘re looking for even more shopping and strolling.

We stayed at the Canal St. Martin property in Paris. We were there for 5 nights in early November with 4 adults and 2 teen-agers. The apartment is beautiful, with light streaming in from the windows. It is very-well maintained and enough room for 6 people to sleep very comfortably. The open kitchen/living space provided plenty of room for everyone to be able to relax when we were not out exploring Paris. The owners have made it a cozy, very inviting place. We would highly recommend the unit. It is in the 10th arrondissement which was a new place for us to explore (we usually stay in the 6th). The metro is very close by so getting around is easy and there are bakeries, brasseries and grocery stores all within a block or two. The location overlooking the Canal St Martin was wonderful. There was some construction in the building, not in the unit, during the day time. Haven in Paris let us know in advance and it did not bother us at all since we were out but if you plan on spending time in the unit during the day, it is something to be aware of until the construction is complete.

The apartment was beautiful... the rooms were airy and spacious and nicely furnished. Everything we needed was supplied. The location was amazing - we looked out onto the picturesque canal. We ate in several amazing restaurants in the neighborhood... everyone we encountered was friendly.

We received a very thorough email from a Haven representative, Florence, about gaining access to the building. Upon entering the apartment Florence began to show us everything that we needed to know about the apartment and the neighborhood. She provided such great service ( including arranging for car rentals, helping with a lockout situation and printing Louvre tickets for us ). This apartment has fantastic light in the day because it overlooks the canal and doesn't have the daily light blocked by surrounding buildings. The room sizes and ceiling heights are the largest that we have ever seen in a central Paris apartment. The kitchen was functional and beautiful. Having two bathrooms was a very useful feature. We would definitely stay here again.

I've had a very hard time returning to my life in the States after spending a week in this beautiful apartment in Paris. Though we brought back a thousand magical memories, when asked what I loved best about Paris I always say 'the apartment and our neighborhood.' I don't believe I can put into words why exactly, but it felt so much like we were truly part of Paris - not merely visiting for a time. It was comfortable, aesthetically beautiful, and so close to shops, the Place and the Metro. It could not have been better.

I travel to Paris each year for business. In the past I have stayed in hotels. This was my first time staying in the Canal St. Martin property or working with Haven in Paris. What a wonderful experience! We were greeted by the most adorable and helpful young lady who walked us through the flat and helped us immediately feel at home. This was by far the most welcoming and fantastic experience! Looking forward to next year!!

We were fortunate to have 4 weeks in Paris from the end of Sept to the end of Oct 2015 and rented Canal St Martin for the duration of our stay. We had thought it would be nice to stay in a part of Paris that was unknown to us and were drawn by the photos of the apartment on the website - partic the 3 beds and 2 bathrooms. And we were thrilled that nothing disappointed! The area is great. I was there with my husband and teenage daughter and we loved exploring the local neighbourhood - plenty of very good restaurants and coffee shops very close by as well as some nice boutiques. There was much more in the immediate vicinity than I had expected and in addition, the metro at Republique is less than 5 mins walk away and the Marais only a little further on foot. We were surprisingly central. The apartment itself is just great. It's flooded with sunshine during the afternoon and has plenty of natural light as well as character and charm. The rooms are spacious, the kitchen well equipped and the showers have great pressure. Also, there was plenty of cupboard space. It was truly a haven.

Could not have been happier with the service received from Haven in Paris. The apartment was spacious and well equipped, and looked just like the photos on the website. Very conveniently located, just a short walk from the metro at Republique. All went smoothly and I would not hesitate to rent through Haven in Paris again.

The Canal St. Martin property was lovely in every way. The flat was spacious and light-filled and even more beautiful than the pictures on the website convey. My children were thrilled with the many Disney movies available to watch! Despite our stay in August, the apartment was a comfortable temperature. The neighborhood was unfamiliar to me prior to our stay, and is colorful and definitely not touristy. Being close to the Republique metro station was great - very easy to get around the city. I will definitely use Haven in Paris for my next stay in Paris.

Our apartment in Canal St Martin was pure perfection. High pressed ceilings, wooden floors, double french doors and marble kitchen tops. It was hard to say goodbye to this Haven in Paris flat.
