St Germain BohèmeBack to Paris
This arty, whimsical Paris penthouse apartment, located in the very heart of one of the most coveted corners of Saint Germain des Prés, is the perfect home for a uniquely unconventional, truly Parisian, un-hotel living experience.
This Paris apartment, the epitome of shabby chic, has been lovingly decorated by the owner, a French artist, with an eclectic mix of antiques and brocante finds. Indian fabrics and artwork collected during the owner’s travels throughout France and India fill the apartment with warmth and color. Additionally, the owner has sprinkled some pieces of her personal artwork about the space adding to the seductive charm of this enchanting apartment.
With its private, wraparound balcony and panoramic views of Paris, this apartment is well worth the climb to its 5th floor location. The whimsical old-world charm makes this gem of an apartment a divinely cozy escape in the very center of Paris’ chic St Germain neighborhood for those looking for authenticity without fuss.
Upon entering your apartment, a carpeted flight of stairs leads to the bedroom with queen bed located under a charming mansard. The room is illuminated with skylights that give out onto the Paris skyline and panoramic city views. The en-suite bathroom has an antique stand-alone tin bathtub and sink. (Please note: The tub is an antique and is a high step in and could be a problem for someone who has trouble climbing. Additionally, this bathroom does not have a wall-mounted shower.)
Off of the bedroom you will find a cozy and light-filled living/dining room and kitchen, with a wooden dining table, armchair and colorful divan. Step right outside onto the lovely terrace where you will want to enjoy every morning coffee, meal, and glass of wine while gazing out over the Paris rooftops, taking in the views several monuments including the Louvre, Notre Dame, the gilded dome of Les Invalides, the Pantheon, St Sulpice, and even Sacre Coeur in the distance!
This apartment is the perfect pied-à-terre for visitors who are looking for an authentic and extended French living experience. You will be living in a real French home with all of its idiosyncrasies.
The St Germain Bohème apartment is an ideal spot for writers, artists, photographers, poets and bohemians ready to enter in to the poetic world of a French artist who divides her time between Paris, Burgundy and India. This is not the ideal apartment for those looking for North American style comfort, or the amenities of a classic hotel. This is comfort in a relaxed and fabulous way. Those of you who are ready for this unique experience will have a wonderful stay.

The property is extremely charming and very spacious by Paris standards, and the view from the upstairs balcony is beautiful. You really can see Sacre Coeur! The location is ideal. Saint Germain-des-Pres is a beautiful area with loads of amenities, but the apartment itself is on a very quiet street just a block or two from shops, restaurants, and two Metro stops, and just slightly farther (though still in easy walking distance) to many more upscale shops and restaurants. Using the Metro, it is quick and easy to get to nearly anywhere you want to go in Paris. I would highly recommend staying in the Artist Penthouse - and we are already considering returning to Paris in Sept 2017 and staying in the same apartment.
I was extremely fortunate to be able to stay at a HIP property as my booking was last minute and the HIP staff worked overtime to find me accommodation in my price range. The property was exactly as described online and was even more charming and authentic that I expected. It was quiet and filled with beautiful light and located in one of the best areas of Paris in terms of art galleries, fabric houses, cafes and shopping. We could easily get groceries or dinner by walking about 3 minutes from our front door. Our greeter was lovely, knowledgeable and always replied promptly to any emails or texts. Our trip was extremely busy and it was great to come home to our quiet and comfortable apartment.
This was our 4th time renting with Haven in Paris. It is always such a seamless process and the properties are always superb - leaves little interest in looking elsewhere. This property was beyond charming and comfortable in every way. Didier was spot on time and wonderful. He was warm, welcoming, helpful! The apartment is everything you'd want and more for the perfect 6th experience. Having the music salon (a 2nd living room) and a wrap-around terrace with views of Sacre Coeur, the Eiffel Tower and St Sulpice put this at the top of my "rent again" list.
I am so glad that we used Haven in Paris. They were so hospitable and accommodating. This apartment truly was a safe and beautiful haven in the perfect part of town. We loved the location and quaint little square that the apartment was nestled in. It was very peaceful and quiet at night. The apartment was a lovely and well thought out treasure trove. I enjoyed every little detail that went into making this apartment feel like home for the week. I couldn't recommend a finer place to stay in Paris.
Hello, Haven in Paris. You should be called Heaven in Paris, but Haven works just as well! The artist penthouse was truly the most tastefully and artistically appointed place I have stayed in - the light and airy rooms, fabrics, artwork, eclectic touches and comforts, the views of monuments and churches, all of it came together to make our stay in Paris magical. Thank you for everything!
Magic corner of Paris, with views of Sacre Coeur and Eiffel Tower from balcony. In the middle of everything. And walkable to everywhere else.
The apartment is just amazing, the decor and furniture are stunning and the location just perfect! My husband and I enjoyed so much and can't wait to go back to Paris! Our greeter was excellent and made us feel very welcome, always on time on the appointments and very helpful when we needed. Can't says thanks enough to HIP for this amazing holiday!
The Artist Apartment we rented through Haven in Paris was without a doubt one of the most wonderful places we have ever stayed. Our children had their own bedroom space with their own bathroom and a desk for drawing and writing. We had a wonderful bedroom area with a delightful balcony and even a piano. There was lots of light and space which made it a great space to sit and relax after a busy day in Paris. There was a gorgeous tub for soaking out tired walking feet. And the location was perfect , we were very near Les Jardin de Luxenbourg and great restaurants and shopping. We have already told many people to use Haven in Paris it was great.
We just returned from the most amazing holiday in Paris. Haven in Paris was the most wonderful company to deal with. They were very attentive, thorough, and helpful. The booking process was flawless and they answered every question I had promptly. Our greeter Dider was outstanding. Very professional; and felt like a friend really. Our flight was cancelled out of Kelowna and we arrived 8 hours later into Paris than originally planned after being rebooked on another schedule. Our greeter and Haven in Paris were very flexible and answered me right away reassuring us it was no problem. The flat...was wonderful! Beautifully appointed and super clean. Loved the tub room upstairs. Felt like a queen while bathing; very much a Marilyn Monroe vibe. The views of the three-sided balcony were stunning. Could see glimpses of so many landmarks in the city. The furniture inside, I felt was fragile and somewhat uncomfortable; especially the sofa in the livingroom. But, the furniture made the vibe so Parisian. We sat outside most of the time we were in the flat anyhow...but if it rained a lot, I wouldn't find the indoor space super comfortable to lounge in; but who sits inside in Paris when on vacation right? It was quirky, with the toilet downstairs as we slept upstairs and those little trips in the middle of the night down the narrow staircase were tricky after sharing a couple bottles of French wine! But, I wasn't looking for a North American vibe...so not a big deal really. The upstairs mattress was uncomfortable for me...too soft in the middle causing me some back issues during the trip, but solved by using the lower bedroom where the mattress wasn't as soft. The location...the best in Paris! It's situated in the most upscale and prestigious neighborhood in all of Paris. The rich and famous live there and no apartment that we could see had the terrace this apartment had! We had a local art gallery owner speak of how envious he was that we had that terrace in this location. He said it's the best views in all of Paris! So glad we stayed in the Artist Penthouse! Note from HiP: Thank you so much for your kind review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We take your notes about the mattress and the furniture in the apartment very seriously and are looking in to it. The furniture in this apartment is charming, but antique and we appreciate your thoughts. All the best!
The apartment was in a fabulous position in a quiet square with great food shops and restaurants around the corner. You walked up 5 flights of stairs and opened the door to a lovely apartment with lots of windows and sun pouring in. There were views over the rooftops to Sacre Coeur in one direction and the Eiffel Tower in another - magic! The furniture was antique and a little fragile which we had to be careful of. There was also only one toilet which is a very French thing but quite inconvenient for a family! Note from HiP: We are sorry the one toilet was inconvenient. It is true that this is very common in Paris. All the best!
Our experience with Haven in Paris was impeccable. They were really efficient, friendly and flexible at all times. Before our arrival Geneviève helped with the booking process and Didier took the lead in Paris. The apartment turned out to be very nice - better than the pictures, and the ideal location. It was really fantastic, thank you very much! I hope to stay with Haven in Paris again very soon!
This was my first time working with your company and it was a pleasure. I have rented other apartments in the 6th but the Artist Penthouse w/Balcony is my favorite by a landslide. I adored every minute. It was charming and quirky and beyond my wildest dreams. (Oh that terrace!!) Didier was a wonderful liaison and I am grateful for his help and kindness. There is nothing I can think of that will make that little gem any more precious than it already is. You've ruined me--I can't imagine staying anywhere else now. I look forward to the next time.
Everything in the apartement was as we expected it to be - ParisPerfect ! Most importantly, Internet connection was excellent !!! Didier was very helpful and exactly the way we wanted a greeter to be - available and unintrusive! See you next time in Europe!
This property is perfect. It is extremely well located. Close to the hustle and bustle of St.Germain, yet within a quiet neighborhood. The interior is charmingly decorated and the dining-and-living room has windows on three sides which provides a lot of light and warmth. The apartment being slightly higher than the neighbors makes for amazing views far and wide. We can clearly see the Sacré-Coeur on Montmartre. I highly recommend this apartment.
This apartment is extraordinary. The owner is an artist (as the name suggests), and her style and love of life infuse every inch of this wonderful place. It is a charming base from which to explore Paris on a lovely, quiet street but only blocks to the hustle and bustle of restaurants and galleries. As the listing notes, there is no elevator and there are lots of stairs, but if you don't mind that and you love design and uniqueness, this place will blow your mind! Enjoy.
We really enjoyed our stay in the Artist's Penthouse in St Germain, the apartment was full of delightful and quirky items, so visually very pleasing, we were also intrigued by the colors on the walls and ceilings and intend to replicate in our own home if we can! The balcony was wonderful, we sat out every evening eating our dinner and watching the light come down over the rooftops of Paris. The cleaning was impeccable so no problems there. We would certainly use you again.
The beautiful Artist Penthouse in Paris was just as I imagined. Tastefully decorated with antiques, this lovely flat was luxurious yet comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing upstairs in the small sitting room & spilling onto the balcony to enjoy the views & sounds of Paris. From the moment I signed on with Havens, the staff was extremely helpful. As expected, our greeter who was enthusiastic and helped us settle in quickly.Paris is the most divine city...I look forward to returning soon.
Prior to arrival, we had some concern about local construction. HIP team responded immediately with information and photo which allayed our concern and proved most reassuring. Our greeter Didier was extremely helpful and pleasant. The driver we used, Gregory, from the HIP website was also very friendly and efficient and very easy to contact. He also helped us with luggage which was a bonus! The flat is absolutely charming and has everything that you could possibly need, except perhaps a couple of good coffee mugs with handles for that cuppa! The flat is in a delightful little square in a fascinating area of Paris with good restaurants and cafes and close to Metro. A perfect spot. HiP Comment: Thank you for your suggestion! We are working with the owner to put this in place.
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Paris and miss it all ready! The apartment was fabulous and Didier, our greeter, so charming and helpful. We loved our vacation and hope to make another trip to some of your other locations soon. Thank you for a beautiful and hassle free vacation.
This apartment is very special. The view of the rooftops of Paris is spectacular. The beds are very comfortable and the location is wonderful. The neighborhood is full of great and charming restaurants, bakeries and shopping.
Wow! Renting the "Artist Penthouse" apartment for a week was like a dream come true - romantic, cozy, quirky and very special, with the most beautiful view in all of Paris. Like living inside of a jewel box, this apartment is filled with magic and sparkle. Perfect for my mother/daughter week with my 16 year old. I would not recommend this apartment for a group or for large sized people, as almost everything in it is mini-sized (fridge., coffee cups, kitchen, sofa, etc.), although both beds were large & exceedingly comfy with the most crisp cotton sheets & down-filled duvet ever. The building, and street it is located on are charming and perfectly situated - quiet but in the heart of it all. Such a delight...this apartment will live in our hearts always!
Delightful apt., wonderful section of the city, very attentive greeter. Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our visit. The 5 flight climb added to the charm, but not appropriate for someone with limited ability. Looking forward to future rentals through HIP.
We had a great experience with Haven in Paris - very professional! My husband & I loved the Artist Penthouse! It was perfectly located in St. Germain des Pres and we were able to walk everywhere (even with 8 & 10 year old boys)! Our greeter Didier was very friendly and helpful. The apartment has lots of light and the views of the Basilique du Sacre Coeur & the top of the Tour Eiffel were extra special! My boys found the apartment to be "ancient," but that is what gave it so much character to me...I loved the uneven tile floor, the art & antiques and especially the beautiful iron bathtub! If you don't mind climbing five flights up a narrow staircase, the apartment will make you feel like you are truly living in Paris!
The greeter, Didier, was prompt and helpful both upon arrival and check out. He assisted us with all the questions we had. The apartment itself was wonderfully funky. Clearly, it was put together as a labor of love as opposed to a standard, neutral place meeting the lowest common denominator. This apartment had a wonderful and quirky point of view whether it was the layout, the furnishings or the artwork. Be prepared to scale some steps...but you will be rewarded. The location right in the heart of the 6th was fantastic for all the activity so close by, yet somehow also phenomenally quiet. A few minor critiques: 1) The washer/dryer in the kitchen is quite finicky and difficult to operate. Could benefit from having a new machine; and 2) the door covering the washer dryer does not close properly, leaving it to swing open and making an already narrow passageway in the kitchen that much narrower (responsible for a few middle-of-the-night bruised knees). Overall a great spot that I would heartily recommend to others who are looking for a place that is a little bit different and who can revel in a place's quirks. NOTE from HIP: We will ensure the washer and dryer are working properly. Unfortunatley, machines in France in general do not work as efficiently or as fast as those we are used to in North America.
This flat is beautiful, with some wonderful touches like a huge tin tub and sink, the real silver silverware, the marble kitchen sink, and the small piano on the top floor. The details are artistic and thought-out: Nothing generic about this place! The other big draw is the neighborhood, which is upscale & also intereresting, with many great restaurants and boutiques. And just a short-ish walk to the Louvre. If you don't mind the five-story walk-up, and like the Bohemian appeal, this is great place to stay in Paris. Also, Didier who greeted us is very helpful and enthusiastic, and the same goes for David the driver, who picked us up at the airport (you can find information on his car service on this site). Haven in Paris is very professionally run, and we would certainly use this service again!
