About
This Space
The Marais Bastille, a newly renovated Parisian apartment with a private balcony, is located in a typical Haussmanian building, constructed in 1900 and classified as a historical monument. This three-bedroom Paris rental is centrally located in the Marais on a quiet side street in a highly sought-after neighborhood filled with trendy cafés, restaurants, shops, and markets. The apartment is a short walk from the Place des Vosges, Bastille, Île Saint-Louis, Seine River, Bastille Opera House, and within walking distance to all of central Paris.
Upon entering the apartment, you will love the gorgeous, herringbone hardwood floors and many original details such as the decorative marble fireplaces, crown moldings, and ornate mirrors.
The natural light that floods in through floor-to-ceiling windows and the east and west exposures allow for perfect light all day long.
The foyer and hallway are decorated with original period drawings, retro lighting fixtures, a coat rack, and an antique commode.
The lovely eat-in, and fully equipped kitchen; an eclectic mix of original wainscoting, tiled fireplace, crown moldings, decorative wall murals, a Scandinavian-style buffet, and the industrial dining table make for an inviting and original space. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything needed to make tasty breakfasts, afternoon snacks or a full-on French dinner feast. From the quartz countertops and induction stovetop to convection oven, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso machine, every detail has been carefully planned. The kitchen is located between the living room and 2nd bedroom and all rooms have large double doors that can close allowing for privacy or open, letting in the natural Parisian light.
The bright and beautiful living room has two large windows overlooking the flowering balcony and the small side street. This attractive room has 2 comfortable couches and seating, a 40’’ Samsung Television designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, a WiFi/TV box/DVD player.
The master bedroom with a queen bed overlooks the west-facing courtyard. Sleep comfortably and enjoy the 19th-century commode with marble topping, authentic Eero Saarinen chair, and the original impressionist oil painting depicting the Parisian Luxembourg Garden. These details together with the grey-blue wall painting and the exquisite ceiling details create a warm and peaceful ambiance. Roll-down bamboo shutters are provided to ensure a deep sleep after a day of Parisian touring.
The second bedroom overlooks the balcony and is next to the kitchen/dining room. The queen bed, marble fireplace, original artwork, antique furniture, and flowered view make this room a sweet and cozy haven.
The beautifully tiled modern bathroom is located in the hallway. Bathed in natural light it has a large walk-in rain shower, a handheld shower, a gorgeous porcelain claw foot tub, a sink, and a heated towel rack. The WC is located nearby for convenience and privacy.
Next to the bathroom on the left is the third and smallest bedroom also overlooking the west-facing courtyard. You will find a single bed (perfect for a child or teen), a small closet, and a rattan chair. An external canvas shutter will block the light and allow for an ideal night of sleep.
All of the windows in the flat are double-glazed for privacy and comfort.
The long flowering balcony with its plants and flowers has a lovely bistro table and two wooden chairs which invite you to enjoy a glass of wine, a morning cappuccino or just to enjoy the Parisian scenes below. In the evening, and on warm days, the metal shutters can close offering privacy and wonderful air circulation.
The Marais Bastille apartment is the perfect stepping stone for visiting Paris in style and comfort as tourists, business travelers, honeymooners, art lovers, or just plain Francophiles. You will adore the trendy Marais neighborhood with its architecture, hip shops and galleries, restaurants, diverse population, and central location within Paris. All of Paris is truly at your fingertips: you can walk easily to the Bastille, Picasso Museum, Seine River, Ile Saint-Louis, Notre Dame Cathedral, Left Bank and so much more.

About
The Area
Covering Paris’ central 3rd and 4th arrondissements, the Marais is the oldest neighborhood in the city, where medieval roads and architecture now contain designer boutiques, intimate museums, hip cafés, and hidden gardens. Just down the street from the Hôtel de Ville city hall, the Pompidou museum exhibits a wonderful range of modern art on four, expansive floors. In the center of the Marais, thanks to its historic Jewish heritage, you’ll find take-away and sit-down falafel restaurants and delis aplenty, including the world-famous L’As du Falafel, the newer Miznon, and ever-popular Sacha Finkelsztajn deli. Pick up a sweet treat from Pierre Hermé, Café Pouchkine, or L’Éclair de Génie and enjoy it in the calm sunshine of Place des Vosges, the oldest square in Paris, or escape the crowds at the hidden Rosiers-Joseph Migneret garden. History buffs will appreciate the Musée Carnavalet, a history museum dedicated to the city of Paris, as well as the fascinating Musée des Archives, both troves of rare documents and artifacts. The recently renovated Picasso museum and the hunting museum, Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, are fantastic options as well. Head towards metro St-Paul to rummage through the most unique antique and vintage shops in the area. Much of the Marais’ popular and varied nightlife scene caters to Paris’ gay population, but there is undoubtedly something to please everyone. The North Marais, toward Place de la République, is where you’ll find the delicious marché des Enfants Rouge and nearby cultural event center, Carreau du Temple, surrounded by a number of Paris’ trendiest cafés and clandestine cocktail bars.

Reviews
My husband and a couple of our friends had the most enchanting stay at this property during the latter part of September. The Marais was a new-to-us pocket of Paris yet to be explored, and the location of the apartment could not be beat! Just steps away from the Bastille Metro line, we could easily zip to anywhere around the city with no trouble. Within walking distance are plentiful, quality restaurants, shopping and the beautiful Places des Vosges, which is a lovely picnic and people-watching spot. Directly across the street from us was perhaps the happiest surprise -- a delightful wine shop with very knowledgeable staff which we frequented. The apartment itself was well-equipped with every amenity we could need. The absolute best feature was without question the balcony which spanned the width of the apartment, and we enjoyed at all times of the day from our morning croissants and French press coffee to the pre-dinner cocktail hour. There's nothing quite like your own, personal balcony for feeling very Parisian! Of course, Marais Bastille just oozed history with its ornate crown moldings and elegant chevron wood floors (which I am convinced I must now have in my American home). Such a lovely place to call home for a week!
Our first experience staying with Haven In and the experience was excellent. Every person we interacted with through Haven In was extremely professional and helpful, the apartment was beautiful - as depicted on the website - and immaculately clean. We highly recommend Haven In and look forward to staying with them again in the future!
