About
This Space

This idyllic Provençal villa offers the best of everything for your next family reunion or intimate getaway to the South of France. Surrounded by the world-class Côte-du-Rhône vineyards and originally constructed in the 18th century, the Villa has been completed renovated, featuring luxurious modern amenities, and beautifully conforming to the refined tastes and lifestyles of the 21st century.

Set upon two acres of lawns and gardens that host olive groves and a 300-year old plane tree, the property also boasts a heated swimming pool (six by twelve meters), boules court, wrap-around terrace, and sweeping views of the Dentelles de Montmirail, Mont Ventoux, and across the Vaucluse Plain to the Luberon. Directly behind the Villa is a canal with a walking/biking path, and the location is ideal for exploring nearby villages, markets, vineyards, and historical sites.

An antique wooden front door opens to the gracious foyer of the sprawling, three-story main house of the Villa. At the end of the foyer, the original spiral stone staircase with wrought iron handrails leads to the upper floors where there are five bedrooms, each with a modern en suite bathroom, high-quality mattresses, screened windows, and individually controlled air conditioning.

Up one flight of stairs, the extraordinary Master Bedroom Suite features a king-sized wrought iron canopy bed, cherry wood armoire, corner fireplace, wall-mounted 55 inch QLED TV, sitting-chair and ottoman with reading lamp, chest of drawers, and French windows that face east and open onto expansive views of the vineyards, Mont Ventoux, and the Dentelles. A window seat under a long, north-facing window offers views of the garden. The en suite Master Bathroom includes an oversized bathtub, double sinks, a large walk-in shower with rain shower head, and a separate toilet room.

Two more bedrooms on this floor also offer lovely views and en suite bathrooms, one bedroom with a king-sized bed that can be split into twin beds, and the other with a queen-sized bed. Also on this floor is a small study, equipped with a farm table/desk, computer, printer, telephone, and a wrought iron daybed/sofa. Just around the corner from the study is a powder room with sink and toilet. The fourth and fifth bedrooms are up one more flight of stairs, both with views, king-sized beds that can be split into twin beds, and en suite bathrooms.

Back on the ground floor and to the left of the foyer is the library/billiard room, featuring a custom made mahogany and slate regulation-size pool table. The west wall of the room is lined with well-stocked bookshelves. Along the south wall is a coat closet and the entry to a powder room. To the right of the foyer is the living room, which features a large, wood burning fireplace, a comfortable sitting area comprised of a long sofa, cocktail table, and two armchairs, and a large south-facing window that overlooks the courtyard. Continuing from the living room toward the kitchen, one passes through a small game room, furnished with an 18th-century, walnut chess table, and a walnut buffet which houses the sound system. This room has an east-facing window with cheerful stained glass at the top.

The combined kitchen and dining area is large and open with exposed wooden ceiling beams. The kitchen features beautiful beige marble countertops from Burgundy, and top-of-the-line appliances, including a professional quality Lacanche stove with seven gas burners and two ovens (one gas, one electric), Miele dishwasher and microwave, and a double door refrigerator/freezer. Behind the kitchen is a utility room with pantry storage and a separate washer and dryer. The dining area has a large stone fireplace and an antique wooden farm table that can seat up to 12. Wide, arched French doors on both the northern and eastern walls open onto a large, wrap-around terrace, with trellises on which dense, rambling roses grow to provide shade cover.

The northern section of the terrace features a spring-fed fountain and a custom-made metal and granite dining table that can accommodate 12. Shaded all day, the northern terrace is nestled in a garden with a stairway leading to a terraced boules court and with views of a small olive grove. The eastern section of the terrace has cushioned, wrought iron seating arranged around a cocktail table, a round dining table that seats four, and a parasol. The eastern terrace enjoys the morning sunrise over the sweeping views across the vineyards to the Dentelles, Mont Ventoux, and the Luberon.

Across a courtyard from the main house sits the barn, a fully renovated 18th century structure. Large French doors open into the fully air conditioned, first floor sitting room. Furnished with a sofa, armchairs, cocktail table, and a 55 inch QLED TV, there is also a Pilates reformer, a walnut WaterRower, and yoga mats for those wishing to exercise indoors. (The second floor of the barn is closed off and not included in the rental.) Adjacent to the main entrance to the barn is the doorway to a storage shed, which houses six mountain bikes (four adult sized and two child sized) and bike helmets that can be used to ride along the canal path and to neighboring villages.

The swimming pool is accessed by a set of stone stairs that descend from the olive grove, through a garden planted with rosemary, lavender, roses, and other flowers. The pool is terraced into the hillside and is protected from the vineyards below by a mature hedge. A flagstone deck, furnished with eight cushioned, wrought-iron loungers and two large, tilting parasols, surrounds the pool. The pool can be heated at an additional cost.
