About
This Space

The Bastide de Castillon Provence holiday villa is situated in the charming village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard. This five-bedroom vacation rental is a historic stone farmhouse that has been fully restored and beautifully decorated for modern comfort. Spacious yet cozy with its natural stone walls and traditional furnishings, the Bastide de Castillon villa is ideal for families or groups looking for a picturesque Provence getaway. Your vacation rental is just a stone’s throw from bucolic Côtes-du-Rhône wine country and cultural attractions, notably the legionary Pont du Gard, a two-thousand-year-old Roman aqueduct and World Heritage site.

The airy and light-filled living area and dining room opens onto the garden and shaded terrace overlooking the pool. The space has comfortable sofas, a light-colored palette, natural stone walls, and matching ceramic tiles, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The impressive barn-like wooden doors add the perfect rustic touch, and with the fireplace and traditional decor, you will feel perfectly relaxed and at home in this authentic vacation rental.

The wonderful kitchen is equipped with all the amenities you may need for preparing meals with locally sourced ingredients fresh from the local market, including gas burners and modern appliances. The central island is a chef’s dream and the extra seating it provides allows for group cooking sessions while sipping a glass of the local Provençal rosé.

The five comfortable bedrooms all have crisp percale bedding and charming French country decor, including antique furniture, wood beams, and stone walls original to the structure. The beautiful Master Bedroom has a queen bed, an en suite bathroom with shower and bathtub, and direct access to the terrace. Two other lovely bedrooms also each have queen- sized beds and private en suite bathrooms. The fourth bedroom offers you multiple options with its king bed that can be split into singles, as well as a child’s bed, and sofa bed. The fifth bedroom also offers flexible sleeping arrangements, with a king bed that can be split into singles. The fourth and fifth bedrooms each have access to their own private bathrooms just across the hallway. The five renovated full bathrooms in this property offer the fresh, modern amenities you expect while retaining the charm of this antique home.

The highlight of the charming Bastide de Castillon villa may be its outdoor courtyard and terrace, easily accessed from the main living area. It includes a private in-ground swimming pool perfect for cooling down in the warm Provence summers, lounge chairs for relaxing or reading a book in the sun, a covered dining space with dining table, and a barbeque grill for your evening meals under the stars. Surrounded by ancient stone walls, climbing vines, and fruit trees, you will feel you have traveled through time to experience old France.

About Vers-Pont-du-Gard

This historic stone village farmhouse is situated right in the center of the old quarter of the village, which has everything you need: three restaurants, bakery, pharmacy, and hair salon and esthetician. You can walk or bike to make your daily purchases and experience life at a slower pace. A fresh produce farmers market takes place on the square three times a week and major supermarkets are only a 10 minute drive. You can even buy the local wine Côteaux du Pont-du-Gard directly from the kitchen door of the local vineyard or at the wine cooperative. Other fresh produce can be bought directly from the farmer.

Bicycles can be rented nearby and the surrounding vineyards provide enjoyable and easy rides through flat terrain. There are also many wonderful hiking routes and you can even opt to view the countryside from a kayak, as you meander down the Gardon river, which flows directly underneath the Pont du Gard aqueduct. Ancient villages dot the gentle rolling hills and their vineyard, including lovely Uzes only 12km away. Your stay at the Bastide de Castillon villa will feel as though you have become part of this quintessentially French landscape.
