About
This Space

Capriolo villa, a picturesque five-bedroom Italian vacation rental, is located in the heart of the Selva National Park with stunning views of rolling Tuscan hills to the east and south. It is a picturesque holiday home renovated with love by its American and Italian owners for full comfort and convenience. This 17th century Tuscan farmhouse combines all the amenities of modern living with the allure of old world Italy. The Capriolo villa is located just next door to its renovated former barn, also available for rent (see our Fienile di Capriolo villa).

Spread out over three floors, this spacious vacation rental is perfect for larger groups looking for a comfortable and authentic experience. You will first step into the huge living room with traditional beam ceilings, hand carved fireplace with travertine mantle, two gorgeous arches, and rustic tile flooring. Light streams through large windows, offering panoramic views and vistas at every turn. All rooms have ceiling fans for your comfort in warmer weather. The custom-designed kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook your own gourmet meals or for a private chef to prepare them for you. Access to a covered outdoor eating patio with seating for 16 is directly available from the kitchen, or you can opt for the large formal dining room.

The bedrooms are located throughout the three different floors, ideal for creating privacy between rooms. Three of the bedrooms have king beds that can also be divided into singles and the other two bedrooms have queen beds. All bathrooms are en suite and offer a bathtub, a shower, or both. A guest bathroom by one of the main entrances features a toilet, sink and washing machine (sorry, no dryer - it is not necessary under the Tuscan sun).

The large pool (5 x 14.5 meters) is dramatically set against the backdrop of distant hills among lavender, rosemary, rose bushes, and other local Tuscan flora. There is ample pool furniture (seating and umbrellas) provided. The property offers not only relaxation but also the opportunity for fun and exploration, since the charming bilingual owners will happily help you organize many extra luxury services for an additional charge: catering, market shopping, cooking lessons, tours and hikes, bike rentals, hot air balloon rides, wine tasting, olive picking, and much more. The Il Fienile di Capriolo villa is the perfect choice for your vacation rental experience. The closest village is Pievescola, a 5-10 minute drive from the property.

Wanted to let you know that we enjoyed our visit and had a very comfortable stay at your place and it was a perfect location to visit all the towns and villages that we had planned to see. In the future if anyone is looking for a villa, I will most certainly refer them to this villa. Thanks once again, to the owner Vieri, for all the help you provided in making reservations and picking up groceries and all the suggestions that you made. All of these things made our trip memorable.

We are a group of 9 friends (4 adults and 5 children) who stayed a week at the Capriolo villa this summer. We have one desire and that is to return! What a welcoming from the owner of the villa who was available, smiling, and always had good advice. He is adorable. the villa is magnificent, very clean, and very spacious. The pool is also superb and is not missing anything (fully equipped with impeccable linens). A huge thank you to the owner for his kindness and availability. In addition the villa is ideally placed to discover the magnificent region that is Tuscany. A huge thank you for everything.

We had the most wonderful vacation at the Villa Capriolo, in late June. We shared the house with 4 adults and two teenagers. The villa is an artful study in relaxed elegance, combining contemporary and rustic details in a setting of incredible natural beauty. Many of the standard features of this villa were for us amazing, especially the well equipped gourmet kitchen that allowed us to prepare delicious meals which we ate on the terrace. The five bedrooms were comfortable, well appointed with private baths and many had lovely views. The Villa has plenty of places to retreat and relax which kept everyone happy. The grounds and outdoor pools are stunning. Sitting and dipping into by the pool with the view of the Tuscan countryside was the highlight of our days. Above all the owner welcomed us with such warmth and generosity that we immediately felt at home in the Villa and Tuscany. He was incredibly responsive to our needs, answering all of our questions and was a wonderful resource recommending restaurants and places to visit. He arranged and joined us on a fabulous tour of a local pecorino cheese factory. With his humor and insightful guidance we managed to see the highlights of the area with the perspective of someone who knows and loves this part of Italy rather than just as tourists passing through. This vacation for us was truly magical, and we highly recommend this Villa as your place to stay in Tuscany.

Two weeks was the perfect amount of time to enjoy Vieri and Rebecca's house in Tuscany. Our family included six people: three adults and three young teens. There was plenty of room for another family of four but due to travel errors, they were not able to join us. Our group of six felt comfortable in the large space and during the heat of the summer, we enjoyed the outdoor pool every late afternoon after exploring San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena, Florence, Casole d'Elsa, and many other towns within a short drive of our residence. What sets this property apart was Vieri's extensive knowledge of Tuscany and his connections to restaurants, wineries, and travel agents. For example, one day Vieri organized a cheese factory tour and sampling in Poggibonsi followed by a private outdoor lunch and tour of a winery with breathtaking views of the vineyard. Another day, Vieri helped us book a high speed train to Venice through his favorite travel agent and was able to personally call the manager at his favorite Venetian Hotel and got us three rooms on short notice that were in the perfect location. Finally on our second to last night he called a restaurant in a sleepy hill town just 15 minutes away and booked the family style dinner for us, complete with live music; it was one of our favorite meals and evenings in Tuscany. Vieri is a wonderful cook as well and we thoroughly enjoyed his Welcome Dinner so that cooking on our day of arrival wasn't necessary. Vieri organized transportation from the Florence airport and a rental car delivered to our villa, making the time adjustment and travel in and out simple and worry free. Vieri was always eager to share his favorite gelato shop, market or cafe which gave us the sense of what it would be like to live in Tuscany.

My family, including three teenage girls and my parents, stayed at the villa and loved it! The owner, Vieri, was very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. He is also a great resource for tips on local sights and experiences. The location is fabulous for visiting nearby hilltop towns, amazing dining or relaxing in its serene setting with panoramic views of the valley. Inside, the villa is well-appointed and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could possibly want! Our girls enjoyed swimming and hanging out by the pool while the adults appreciated the fact that the villa stayed cool inside and there were screens to keep the bugs out. The lavender and butterflies in the garden were a delight as well as the privacy of the villa. One tip: be sure to have Vieri's number available when first arriving as the villa is challenging to find. The roads in the area are not clearly signed, but Vieri met us so we could follow him. We would definitely love to vacation here again!

We are back in torrential rain with the beautiful Tuscan sun in our dreams. We did enjoy our stay in your lovely villa - thank you for being such a kind host and helping us in many ways. The house has been converted very well and we enjoyed particularly using your well-equipped kitchen! The wild boar ragu will be a legend we all talk about for years……. Thank you again for your generous hospitality.

The owner, Vieri, ended up driving us to Capriolo from Florence, since the driver he booked to pick us up at the Florence train station was unavailable at the last moment, which serendipitously made for a great introduction to the property. Vieri was always very attentive and responsive to our needs, including fixing internet problems and delivering space heaters for the cold evenings in a stone house. The property was lovely, particularly the streaming sunlight and the fantastic kitchen where we cooked almost nightly. Vieri arranged for a rental car to be delivered to Capriolo and for us to be taken to the train station when we left on Saturday. He also helped us with many small details. I would have liked a dryer, but I am a spoiled American who didn't want to hang clothes on a line during vacation. My two children, both in their 20s had a fantastic time and didn't want to leave. My husband and I had hoped that our trip to Tuscany would be memorable for them and it was.

We stayed at this beautiful villa for a week at the beginning of October 2013 with another family, and it was truly wonderful. It is a gorgeous house, spacious, beautifully decorated, with fantastic amenities, including en-suites with every bedroom and a fabulous kitchen. The view is spectacular, and our children (4 between us, aged 7 to 13) loved running around outside. The location is perfect for exploring the delights of Tuscany, and the owner, Vieri, could not be more helpful with suggestions, restaurant bookings and organizing unforgettable experiences such as a visit to a chocolate factory and a winery. We would not hesitate to recommend this Villa to anyone visiting Tuscany, but a week is just not long enough! Thank you Vieri, we look forward to returning someday!

We spent a fabulous week at Vieri & Rebecca's delightful property in late June. We were two families traveling together with four children (ages 5 - 10), and the home was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. We enjoyed cooking in the home's spacious and modern kitchen. It was stocked with every tool and gadget we could have wanted! The grounds, including the pool, were beautiful, quiet, private and very well maintained. Vieri cooked two delicious meals for us during our stay - while not a budget option, his meals were of very high quality and we enjoyed them as much as the better restaurant meals we enjoyed. We very much hope to be return guests at this lovely spot!

Perfect in all Respects. Nestled in the midst of a vineyard this peaceful Tuscan retreat made for a perfect week for at least ten adults. Beautiful pool and loads to do in the surrounding countryside. It will meet all the needs of children as well. The owner, Vieri, is the ultimate host offering marvelous advice about restaurants, local villages and towns and current events. To top everything off, he cooked a first rate dinner for our party. Simply superlative!!!

The Villa is really identical how you can see it in the photos. It is beautiful, clean, well-equipped (much more you can expect!), with huge space in each room for everything you would like to do there. You can spend the hottest days in this very very comfortable villa, playing the piano, relaxing and reading hundreds of books available, or you can be swimming in the pool, playing ping-pong, lying everywhere around the villa on the terraces, or playing with the kids. We were there with three kids - ages 2, 8 and 11 - and they loved it there. But what is more important to say, is that the owner is a perfect man and I would like to thank him for the best holiday ever. You can not imagine a more helpful, educated, and pleasant man than he is! He was available all the time we needed any help, even with a small unimportant advice. But also he helped me with organizing our wedding, that we had at the villa and the places around. Also because of him our wedding was the most perfect day we expected to have. It was a once in a lifetime experience! I am not even talking about all the beautiful places you can easily invited by car. Amazing country, amazing places, amazing people, everything is amazing and you can "have" it all. Hope we will come back soon!

The Capriolo Villa is set on a forested hillside in rural Tuscany with panoramic views. The area is dotted with medieval villages with fabulous architecture, excellent restaurants, shopping and other activities. Sienna and Florence are within an hour or so. It was always a relief to return from the cities to the sanctuary of Capriolo after a long day of excursions. The hosts who live next door are both very helpful and unobtrusive. They are world travelers and interesting conversationalists in any setting. They are excellent cooks and can prepare a welcoming meal and even stock the kitchen to tide you over until you get oriented, a real plus. If you want a real taste of Tuscany, they can tell you where to find it. They have extensive knowledge of the areas activities, wines (Chianti region) and cheeses - the Pecorini was to die for. We intended to bring a block back, but ate it all before we left. It was a pleasure to get fresh eggs each morning. The eight chickens are free range and almost pets. We stayed two weeks with our grown children coming for one week, and wished we could have stayed another two. We plan to repeat the experience exploring even more of this wonderful region and the conversations with the host.

We loved the beauty of Tuscany and your hospitality made it even more beautiful. Thank you so much for attending to our every need. We had a great family time and we all relaxed. We loved jogging and walking in that area. We miss the greatest gelato on earth and your risottos! Thanks again for everything.

Paul & Sally S. August, 2010 United Kingdom

Thank you for a lovely, lovely holiday in your wonderful villa. We had a very relaxing holiday. The villa is beautiful and very well equipped. We have very much enjoyed our days by the pool which again had lots of sunbeds and umbrellas. Our host was extremely helpful in finding restaurants and the recommendations were so useful; the quality of the restaurants we went to was superb. Thank you again and very best wishes.

I.G. July, 2010 Tel Aviv, Israel

Our stay at Villa Capriolo was nothing short of superb. We were 6 adults and a child. The house was wonderfully equipped, the owners extremely helpful and the location excellent for taking excursions to points of interest in Tuscany. We are already planning a return in 2011.

Mary C. June, 2010 Ireland

Our stay at Villa Capriolo was exceptional. The house had all the amenities one could expect (except air conditioning but we knew this) and the hosts were extremely helpful in many different ways including providing restaurant reservations, assistance with medical needs and very helpful hints concerning where to go. The swimming pool is large and clean and particularly appreciated given the warmth. I recommend this villa enthusiastically.

Ralph, F. June, 2010 Richmond, VA

Villa Capriolo provided an ideal setting for our two families. Its location between Florence and Siena made visiting the more important points of interest in Tuscany easy and reasonably fast. Local restaurants, many recommended by our hosts who made reservations for us, provided excellent food at reasonable prices. The rooms were all very comfortable, clean and sufficiently cool given the ceiling fans (we know there would not be any a/c). We were also very pleased with the abundance of plates, glasses, flatware, pots and pans and more. We hope to return one day.

Nicholas Bicket August, 2009 UK

A truly great holiday with all the stars aligning! The house and setting are beautiful. Vry quiet and private. It might be worth warning future guests of two things: the first is the need to bring mosquito reppellant and cream (certainly in the summer) and the second that the road up to the house, while passable with a small on-road car, is quite "mountainous". But these are housekeeping points and the overall experience was fabulous.

John R. September, 2006 Washington, USA

I am jealous of your life here in Italy. You have a wonderful home here and beautifully decorated. Thanks again.

Adam C. June, 2006 UK

Thank you for our enchanting two weeks in this beautiful place. Your house is perfectly appointed, and we could not have been more comfortable, nor have had a happier holiday.

Sonya G. June, 2006 Oregon, USA

Thanks so much for having such a wonderful villa for us to stay in. You are a fabulous cook and wine maker. I loved the shutters and the kitchen and the pool EVERYTHING! Can t wait to come back. You are living my dream!!!

Polly C. August, 2005 UK

Thank you so much for going out of your way to making our stay in your beautiful villa so memorable. I was so grateful to you, Vieri (the owner), for helping me so much. Thank you again.

Jim C. August, 2005 Florida, USA

Your property is wonderful, especially for the children who have had their own space and plenty of it. The overall utility is well planned and much love was used in its construction and furnishing. The greatest compliment I can offer is an invitation to you to visit with us in Florida. Thank you.

Bill & Gayle F. July, 2005 Oregon, USA

We ve had an incredible time here. Your cooking was unforgettable, your wines are truly amazing, and our riding through the Tuscan countryside has been memorable. Thanks so much.
