About
This Space

The Ligurian Seaside Villa is a true vacation getaway nestled on the top of the adorable village of Zoagli on the Ligurian coast. With sweeping views of the Mediterranean sea, Portofino, and Santa Margherita this historic villa built in 1888 is the perfect space for discerning guests seeking authenticity and charm. With its five bedrooms and three bathrooms, this Italian vacation home is the ideal location for relaxing and basking in the relaxed Italian way of life and exploring the seaside villages of the Cinque Terre, Portofino, Camogli, and Santa Margherita.

The main living areas of the Ligurian Seaside Villa have authentic antique furniture, frescoed ceilings, decorative cement tiles, and marble flooring. The living room has large windows overlooking gardens and a dining room with seating for up to twenty guests. The charming tiled kitchen includes a gas range, a wood burning stove, and everything you will need to prepare delicious local Italian fare. On request, the owners can fire up the outdoor brick and stone traditional wood oven so you can create your own pizza. Due to the high temperatures involved, the owners will assist you. Outdoor dining under shady flowers and vines overlooking the sea has never been nicer.

Up a marble staircase to the second floor are the five bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The rooms are decorated with frescoed ceilings, antique furniture, and lovely linens. Most of the windows have delightful Mediterranean views and offer seaside breezes. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, two have double beds, and the fifth bedroom has two singles in the form of a trundle bed and a third a single bed. There is also crib available upon request at no extra fee. Please note that this bedroom is quite small and the perfect room for children due to the small size of the room and bed configuration.

Two of the bedrooms have a connecting door and can be used as one large suite or as two entirely separate bedrooms. One of the bathrooms has antique fittings and a marble bathtub and the other bathroom includes a modern shower and an panoramic Ligurian sea view. The third bathroom with shower, toilet and sink is located on the ground floor.

This hilltop villa is located in the midst of Mediterranean gardens, flowers, and fruit trees. The many trees on the property include mimosa, olive, peach, and lemon, just to name a few. There is also a vegetable garden with tomatoes, zucchinis, eggplants, basil, green beans, and more. In season you can delight in picking and eating a variety fruits and vegetables as they ripen.

The villa has a lovely small pool with panoramic seaside views, perfect for a refreshing afternoon dip after a day at the Zoagli beaches.

At the end of the large private garden is a pergola with a comfortable indoor space and furniture and outdoor chaise lounges where you can unwind looking out at the panoramic views of Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, yachts, sailboats and the relaxing expanse of blue sea. Or you may find yourself taking a nap in the hammock and forgetting, for a while, that the outside world exists.

A few hundred feet from the villa you will fall in love with Zoagli’s adorable food and produce market. As this is Italy, you will find pretty much everything you need for a delicious meal: from a selection of wine, cheese, Italian cold cuts, bread, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables, to many other food choices. A short walk from your villa is an Italian Trattoria la Campagnola where you can dine on nice simple plates of pasta and fish. Call ahead and the accommodating owner will prepare your favorite dishes just for you!

When you pass through the gate at the Ligurian Seaside villa, you will leave the stresses of life behind and relax under the rich foliage of magnolia, palm, and mimosa trees. At night you willd luxuriate in crisp linens with a soothing sea breeze to rock you to sleep. The breathtaking views, the seaside air, the shady terraces and gazebo offer idyllic beauty and repose. The Ligurian Seaside Villa is the perfect Italian vacation retreat. The delightful and knowledgeable English-speaking owners are always on hand to help and offer suggestions and recommendations.

If you make it to the charming beach town of Camogli be sure to hike to Punta Chaippa and eat a focaccia along the way in San Rocco where you can enjoy incredible panoramic views of the Ligurian coast. The seaside city of Genoa, with its medieval town center (one of the largest in Europe) is a short train ride away. Be sure to take a day trip and eat a plate of world famous Genovese pesto before heading out to explore the Strade Nuove and the Palazzi dei Rolli; the ‘new streets’ with their 16th and 17th century Renaissance and Baroque palaces named World heritage sites by Unesco. Silvia, our greeter, was on time for check-in and check-out. She was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to reach when needed. We couldn’t have asked for more from a greeter/contact. We used no service providers. The house was clean and completely met expectations in that regard. Some small soaps in the bathrooms would have been useful upon arrival. The lighting throughout the house is a bit sparse and dim, which isn’t an issue most of the time on sunny days--and your description of the property (and my experience living in Italy years ago) prepared me for the quirks of an older, European home. We loved our stay there, and found the house itself, the garden, and the surrounding areas absolutely magical. Also, I can say that our group did repeatedly walk both down and up the road between the villa and the town of Zoagli. Even my parents, ages 75 and 81, made the trip down on foot (once). Note from Haven: We have let the owner know about soaps and lights!

1. not easy to parking the car ( also if you have the little car ) - it is necessary to advise !!! 2. beach - only by car !!! 10 min ! 3. only one good bathroom and for big family it is a little bit difficult But the historical house, the kitchen , the garden, the sea … and the piano…. Is fantastic ! Note from Haven: You can walk to the beach but it is about 25 minutes downhill. And the car parking is possible, just a little tricky!

The Ligurian experience was simply fabulous. Location: it's not like staying at a rental house, it's rather like staying at Silvia's and Paolo's gorgeous home - the place is quiet and full of life at the same time. In addition, there is no better view on Portofino and the more than a hundred years old pavilion is simply priceless. The two greeters/owners are people you immediately like and we had the privilege to discuss with Paolo and learn a lot about the location and the region. From the guest book we understand that we share this experience with most of our predecessors. Disadvantages: no material ones identified.

Thank you for the lovely stay in your wonderful home! It was very special to find such a historic home, with a beautiful view, and a special garden. You have been very helping in arranging all the details of our stay. Thank you!

We had the most amazing time here! The hosts Silvia and Paolo were fun, knowledgable, helpful, and the most lovely people! We got to meet their family as well and we all had a wonderful time. Really sad to leave! We definitely want to come back!

A wonderful time was had by all. The host, Paolo's, olive oil was a lovely touch. It's hard to choose our favourite spot between the summerhouse and its views and the shower and its views. Very much hoping to come back!

Our vacation is coming to an end and we are feeling sad to leave. We have been amazed by our surroundings. A house that proudly demonstrates its roots and history, while accommodating all the amenities of today. We could not have imagined any place more amazing to explore and relax in than the Ligurian Seaside Villa. The garden can only be described as cut from our dreams. The attentiveness to details has not unnoticed and have been the source of great pleasure. We consider this place unique from anywhere else we have been. We value the closeness to the local community, the grocery store, the restaurant which served us dinner at midnight, the view (even from the bathroom), the beauty, the charm and authenticity. Thank you for inviting us into your family house. Most of all, thank you for your hospitality, your friendliness, and your guidance have been a much appreciated help and made our vacation very comfortable. We are sure this will not be our last stay at the Ligurian Seaside Villa and hope to see you soon.

We had sunshine and rain and lots of cappuccinos. We had never seen such a view in the Mediterranean from a villa before. We hardly put ourselves together to leave the premises in order to explore the area, but when we did, we were so deeply touched by Zoagli, Portofina, Chiavari, & Rapallo. We therefore hope to return to this paradise. All of this would not have been possible without the great hospitality of Silvia and her most appreciated care in all respects. Thank you very much!

Geoff & Sarah June, 2015 Newcastle

We can't imagine a more perfect place for the beginning of our vacation. The house is stunning and our hosts gracious. With luck, we will return one day.

Sandra & Geoffrey June, 2015 Newcastle

We had a wonderful holiday staying in your grand, old, authentic Ligurian villa. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and using many different utensils and pots and eating outside in the good weather, but also enjoying the spacious dining room when it was raining. Many thanks Silvia for your help and attention during our stay. We loved the garden and the terrace views were stunning.

Veena & Nash June, 2015 Newcastle

We had a great three days staying in your beautiful villa with so much history and character.
