Montmartre Hideaway w/BalconyBack to Paris
This hip one-bedroom, one-bathroom Paris vacation rental is located in the heart of Montmartre – a lively neighborhood made famous by the movie Amélie. Here you will find trendy shops, delicious restaurants, happening cafés and wonderful markets, along with small museums, and the famous Sacré Coeur basilica and its impressive Paris views. You will find endless winding cobblestone streets to wander and explore.
Spacious and arty, this fifth floor walk-up has a private balcony offering panoramic views of the Parisian rooftops. As you enter the property, you are greeted by original parquet floors, marble fireplace (sorry, decorative only), original artwork throughout, and industrial-chic furniture lovingly collected by the owner from French antique markets. The ambiance is a perfect balance of creativity and comfort.
The open living and dining room features large, floor-to-ceiling windows that let in Paris' beautiful natural light and give access to your flower-filled private balcony. The stylish sofa can be converted into a comfortable queen bed, and at night the living room can be sectioned off from the dining area with a movable wall for complete privacy. Just off the dining room, is the charming, fully-equipped kitchen with its eclectic blue tiles, breakfast bar, and modern amenities.
After a long day touring the city, you can relax with dinner or even just a glass of wine on your balcony overlooking the city and the sunset. At night, retire to your master bedroom, with its peaceful earth tones, comfortable queen bed, and quality linens. The bathroom is a designer gem, with its large, walk-in shower and river stone floor design, flowing from the sink into the shower. You will awaken in the morning to the sunrise and the sound of birds singing.
The 19th century building that houses your vacation rental overlooks a quiet, leafy courtyard with rose bushes, benches, and tables. Unique and slightly off the beaten track, this furnished vacation rental presents the perfect haven for those seeking the convenience of a boutique hotel but with more space, amenities, and authenticity. It’s no surprise that the picture-perfect village of Montmartre has been the backdrop of so many well known movies, from Amélie Poulain to Midnight in Paris, and inspiration to many famous painters, like Picasso, Dali, Van Gogh and Monet to Toulouse-Lautrec, Mondrian and Pissarro. Winding cobblestone streets, romantic staircases, and hilltop vistas seem to have stayed frozen in time, and are at their most enchanting in the early morning hours or at dusk, when the crowds have dispersed. The tremendous Sacré-Coeur basilica represents Paris’ highest elevation point and offers a crystal-clear view of the entire city. After you pay a visit to the basilica, other cultural must-sees include the Musée de Montmartre, the Éspace Dali, and the “I Love You” wall, found just behind the bustling Place des Abbesses. Get a taste of the neighborhood’s ambiance while wandering the Sunday food and produce market on rue Lepic and rue des Abbesses or the emerging small businesses around rue Caulaincourt and rue Custine. Don’t miss Muse Montmartre and its charming owner, Majid, on rue Burq for a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, Coquelicot for Sunday brunch, Cuillier Café for fresh-ground coffee, and L’Epicerie des Environs for all that is local and delicious. Rue des Martyrs, starting in Montmartre and finishing south in hip Sopi, is one of the oldest market streets in the city and has greatly evolved in the recent past. It now boasts the charming Café Marlette, delicious Rose Bakery, hip Kookaburra coffee shop, Pain Pain bakery, Neo T teahouse, Sebastien Gaudard pâtisserie, and many other delicious speciality food shops. Its warm, inviting charm only continues to grow and merits a stroll from top to bottom, and back. Staying in Montmartre, you’re steps from hip SoPi,,an easy metro or bus ride to the famous flea market at Porte de St-Ouen to the north, and an easy walk downhill toward the bustling Grand Boulevards, Opéra, and Madeleine neighborhoods to the south. The convenient metro will whisk you to any point within the city in no time at all.

We had a lovely amazing time in Montmartre! Everything was so lovely... we were able to explore so much and come home to relax in this wonderful home. Thank you for all your help making the arrangements. We can't wait to return! Merci! Au revoir!
Thank you for letting us share in your lovely flat! It is a beautiful space in a wonderful part of town. We feel lucky to have stayed.
Thank you... Merci mille fois for this lovely stay. Your apartment is parisian perfection, and I loved getting to know Montmartre more intimately. I'll especially miss the amazing views and sounds. Can't wait to return! Merci encore...
We had an unbelievably great time in Paris. The accommodations were simply extraordinary. We loved the character of the apartment and appreciated the tasteful decorations. Having coffee on hand for the morning was a very nice touch. The apartment was spotlessly clean. The apartment is quiet but half a block away you'll find cafés, fruit, vegetable, cheese vendors, dress shops etc. There are two metro stations very close to the apartment that are easy to navigate. Maria could not have been a better greeter. Throughout our time in Paris, we always knew we could call on her if we needed assistance. She had flowers and champagne ready for us when we arrived and gave an in-depth but not excessive overview of appliances etc. She also made reservations at restaurant for us before we arrived, at our request. She was fantastic. Well done HiP. Thank you.
We had a wonderful stay in Paris a few weeks ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the Montmartre hideaway apartment. This is the first time we have opted for a weekly rental at a home rather than staying at a hotel and would opt to do so again when vacationing, not just in Paris but in other cities as well. The place was very roomy, as advertised, and the pictures and website description quite accurate. It was enjoyable to be able to have breakfast, snacks and host friends for drinks and dinner at the place. We found the kitchen to be very well stocked with equipment and liked the ability to do laundry on the premises. The neighborhood around Abbesses metro and the streets radiating from there is a very homey yet fun area of Paris that I would highly recommend. Our greeter, Maria, was on time at both checkin and checkout. In fact we called when arriving in town about an hour earlier than expected and she was able to meet us then. She was very thorough at explaining everything essential. The driver she arranged to take us to airport worked out just fine. There were no issues with cleaning. It was in good order for our arrival. There were plenty of towels on hand for the full week.
Your flat is lovely - warm (literally, also), full of personality and delightfully equipped. Our friends have enjoyed dining here with us. The HiP service, as always, was wonderful. Thanks so much. We look forward to a return.
I've always loved visiting Paris, but until I rented an apartment from Haven in Paris I never realized how much I was missing. The beauty of Haven in Paris is not only do you get a beautiful, clean, safe, comfortable (!!) home away from home for a week (no worrying about whether housekeeping is in the room...) - but you get to live like a stylish Parisienne. For me that meant being able to purchase my groceries from local shops and markets and cook at "home" every night. Cheeses, pates, pastries, vegetable soups...I got to know the neighborhood really know it and found a place at a table in a nearby boulangerie with the loveliest warm bowl of hot chocolate. Heavenly. Bonus, I saved money - nice hotels are so much more and by grocery shopping and not spending $$$ in restaurants I got to spend a little more in some of those wonderful Paris boutique shops. ox HiP
All the way from Pheonix, Arizona. A truly memorable trip -- great apartment + fun neighborhood. Merci beaucoup, Lydia & John Beaulieu
We had a wonderful stay! The apartment was the perfect place to rest each night after full days of beautiful sights and delicious food! Merci to Maria + Erica!
Such a wonderful place! It felt like home from the moment we entered and it was lovely to come back to at the end of each day. We will be staying here on our next trip to Paris. Thank you for everything!
We loved the apartment and everything went smoothly. Maria was very friendly and helpful. Your driver Mr. Baudry met us at the airport and was there waiting with a smile even though the plane was late. All dealings and communications in regard to the booking was excellent, we were well provided with information before we arrived and in the apartment. Blog site with articles on coffee spots and beer places was used and had great suggestions. Location is excellent, husband says only suggestion for improvement is a lift!
This apartment was a highlight of our stay in Paris! We were blown away by how beautiful and carefully detailed this property is. Our greeter Maria was lovely and helpful. The apartment was exceptionally clean and tidy. We loved gathering delicious foods from nearby specialty stores and cooking in the spacious kitchen. The metro system was very close by and easy to navigate. We really enjoyed staying in the Montmartre area. This apartment was a real home away from home and we were so happy that we chose to stay here during our 7 nights in Paris.
It's not often that a product is exactly as described or shown in website pictures, but it was indeed the case with the Montmartre Hideaway apartment. The photos show exactly the quality, cleanliness and wonderful decor of the apartment. What the photos don't show are the views of Les Invalides and the Arc de Triomphe and the fabulous sunsets! The apartment was fully stocked with everything we needed, and the dividing wall in the living area really turned the apartment into a 2 bed, giving privacy to the person on the (comfortable) sofa bed. Haven in Paris was a delight to deal with, from questions prior to making the booking, and then after booking before travel, through to our terrific greeter, Maria. I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment or the HiP team.
We had a wonderful time at the apartment. We would return again to the same place- it was very comfortable, quiet and well equipped. Everything was great- we enjoyed the greeter- she was thorough and helpful. Our driver to the airport was very good as well. The place was spotless and very nicely decorated. We enjoy trying your different properties ( this is our second) as they are all unique and nicely decorated (I am an Interior Designer, so I pay attention to the details!:) The one challenge was the 5 flights of steps- with luggage this is a challenge. This is a flat for well conditioned people! The good news is that we burnt off the delicious croissants we enjoyed every morning from the local boulangerie :) This is also a good location in that it is close to two metro stations and easy to get around the City of Light. We love Paris- it holds significant memories for my husband and I- and now our niece and nephew have also been bitten with the Paris bug- they are planning their next trip! Note from HiP: Thank you for this kind and thoughtful feedback! We realize 5 flights of stairs can be a bit daunting with luggage. For next time, and to our future guests, we suggest booking one of our recommended private drivers for your transfers to and from the apartment as they are usually happy to assist with bringing your luggage up and down stairs.
We will book again for our trip to London next year! There was nothing we could have asked for as the apartment had everything we desired. The location supurb and the Greeter Maria was delightful.
I just wanted to say a big thank-you for the wonderful time that we spent in the Montmartre apartment. The space was beautiful, the neighbourhood a treat and your service completely professional. We will definitely recommend you to others and hopefully come back in the future.
The apartment was very comfortable, well-equipped, and clean, and Maria was excellent, very friendly, anticipating our needs, and very helpful getting us settled in. I would definitely recommend your services and the apartment to my friends.
We enjoyed staying at the Montmartre property immensely. It was our first time renting an apartment in Paris, though it was our fifth visit to Paris. We both felt the apartment experience far surpassed staying at the posh hotels we have been to. It was so relaxing to be able to have breakfasts at home. What fun we had going to the boulangerie, the fromagerie, the bio market, etc. We felt we were experiencing a more authentic part of Paris as well. The apartment was very lovely and well outfitted. We appreciated the views, the airiness, and all the conveniences. We found nothing lacking, except perhaps a nightlight and we accidentally left ours there for future renters! We even enjoyed the great book collection, especially the cookbooks and foodie books! Maria is a lovely energetic and helpful greeter as well. We will be back!
I am thoroughly enjoying my stay. I have stayed in quite a few rental apartments in Paris over the years, and again (this is my second stay) Haven in Paris impresses me most in achieving its professed ethos. It's hard to leave the apartment, and that's saying a lot, After all, this is Paris! Bravo team! As a bonus, there is the spectacular book collection! Finally, since I know Paris well, I may not need to call Maria for advice; however, especially as I am here on my own this time, it is very reassuring to know that she is there should a problem arise during my stay. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting her. She is a real gem!
You really have it nailed down magnificently! From the welcome to the follow-up. In my case, one teeny tiny glitch: maid was to have come one week into my stay and was told in my presence to call me to set this up. She just showed up about 10 days into the stay. This did not in any way make my stay any less enjoyable, however, if you are asking how to make it "perfect", here is my one suggestion. I would also like to add that, having stayed in at least a dozen apartments in the past decade, you do a better job in EVERY way. i.e., the book you compile with instructions doesn't miss a thing and is impeccably written, the apartment was spotlessly maintained, your greeter was charming and welcoming. Great team! *HiP Note: We are working to ensure the cleaner communicates more effectively regarding scheduling moving forward.
My husband and I stayed at this apartment in September and it was amazing! It was exactly what we pictured and more. The bed linens were divine, we were greeted by a lovely woman, and there were flowers and wine upon arrival. Everything was immaculate and the views were amazing! Montmartre is such a special place and the apartment was located right near public transportation. There are tons of cute restaurants, shops within walking distance, too. I cannot recommend this apartment or Haven in Paris enough!! We will absolutely book again with them. Merci- Kate
Excellent experience all around! The Montmartre Apartment was what we expected and was appointed with everything necessary for our stay. Evelyne was very helpful and really sweet. HIP was recommended to us by friends in town and we will most definitely use this service again! Cheers and much continued success, HIP!
Just wanted to say a huge Merci for the fabulous flat! We so enjoyed the simplicity and brightness of the flat (when it was sunny, but even on a grey rainy day it was still heavenly!) We both loved the furnishings and the bed and sofa bed were most comfortable. The 93 steps were a bit much sometimes, but we managed not to fall down or trip going up and were laughing most of the time....... One evening and the next day we did not have hot water, but fortunately, we were able to go to Evelyne's flat in our bathrobes to use her shower (very convenient!) Montmartre is a very fun neighborhood which we didn't really explore until the 2nd week, but loved the Musee Montmartre especially and all the streets and some of the shops. We both would urge friends to choose Haven in Paris as a destination. Note from HIP: The gas was being worked on in the building so the water was out for a brief period. The work in the building is now finished and all systems are working normally!
I can't begin to explain my appreciation for the service you provided during our stay at your beautiful apartment. From the first inquiry I made about the apartment to our departure, the 'Haven in Paris experience' far exceeded my expectations. Our greeter, Evelyn, was incredibly helpful in getting us acquainted with the apartment and the neighborhood. She even organized a taxi for us on our last day. The apartment itself was designed and decorated beautifully - the ideal property to spend a relaxing week in Paris. I can't imagine ever staying in a hotel again and have been raving to all my friends about our experience and Haven in Paris. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your apartment with us!
When planning a VERY impromptu long girls weekend in Paris, we found Haven in Paris through a website and decided staying in an apartment would be a great way to experience the city. From the moment we sent our first email inquiry, we were not disappointed. The entire team was so responsive and able to help us quickly nail down a reservation for the Rue Houdon property. Evelyne, our greeter, was as lovely as other reviewers shared, and she made contact with us in advance of our arrival. The location of the apartment was so convenient, and we spent hours exploring the nearby neighborhood, shops and restaurants. All of the resources on the HIP website and in the apartment itself were very useful - we used Andy to arrange our airport transportation as well. Yes, the stairs are a bit daunting, but what was great was that after daily consumption of copious amounts of foie gras, wine and cheese, the stairs were a great way to equalize our calorie intake! I returned to Portland having not gained an ounce. Thank you Haven in Paris for being part of a memorable visit.
Our experience booking the Montmartre Hideaway through HIP was perfect in every way: it was prompt, personal, helpful...everything you expect from excellent customer service. At no point did I feel nervous about booking the apartment online. Our greeter, Evelyn, was wonderful! She complemented our Paris experience perfectly and made herself available to us at any time throughout our stay. If I could reference Evelyn every trip anywhere, I would - she was an excellent source of knowledge on all things Paris, and given we had our three year old with us she pointed us in the direction of some super beautiful Parisian parks, some of the lesser but still wonderful sites of the city and told us also what to avoid - priceless! To wrap up our stay, we had Evelyn's crepes - I am not sure if they are part of the standard service, or whether they were made especially for our three year old - but we all devoured them. As for our stay in the Houden, well, I think we really slowed down on our trip to Paris, because it was like coming home and unwinding. Unlike an impersonal hotel, where you stay away as long as you can because you are going back to a single sterile room, we were really happy to spend many an evening unwinding in our apartment. It is comfortable and homey with an excellent variety of books to look at should you wish; there is a gorgeous balcony on which to unwind if the weather permits; the sunlight filtering into the apartment lifts the Parisian experience so much more and the sun setting over the rooftops makes you wish you could stay for longer, if not forever. The shops are all within perfect distance for any variation of food if you choose to eat in. The best pastry shop in Paris is at the top of the street...and if it is closed, there is another one around the corner. I should mention the stairs - there are five flights, and they are mentioned on the site so they aren't a surprise, but brace yourself for carrying your luggage up the stairs when you first arrive.
Paris was our first stop and was made very memorable, due to our beautiful apartment. It was wonderful to be met by the elegant Evelyn, who was eager to give us any information that we requested and make us feel very 'at home'. We really enjoyed feeling like we were part of the community of Montmartre, having breakfast on our little balcony each morning and checking to see if the bakery was open. We were very impressed by the large personal library of books that were at our disposal to read and enjoy. This only enhanced our Houdon experience at the end of each very tiring day. The steps to the apartment were a challenge but we decided that we could make more regular visits to the patiserrie because of this exercise regime!!
Like all the reviews read before we stayed here, it really is a wonderful apartment/home. Whilst the decor and views were gorgeous, the quality of everything really stood out to me. The quality of the linen and towels etc was beautiful. The sofa bed was the nicest, most comfortable and largest sofa bed I have ever had experience with too. There was lovely sunlight throughout the home and the kitchen was gorgeous and practical too. We stayed here with two small children (4yrs & 2 yrs) and we were all very comfortable and happy. Ideal location and lovely greeter (Evelyn). Finally, the whole booking process was easy and stress free. Always quick, friendly and professional. Overall perfect!
Our family was warmly greeted by Evelyne as she lead us up the beautiful staircase to the lovely apartment that felt like home. From the pristine warmth of the furnishings and decor(A wonderful mix of french vintage modern and classic antiques) to the cozy bed and well appointed bathroom and kitchen. The apartment even smelled wonderful! When we stepped out on the balcony on a late August evening we could smell toasting gruyere down the street and we felt we had officially arrived. Evelyne gave us the best local information and even recommended where to buy a birthday cake for my daughter's birthday, which will go down in history as the best birthday cake ever. If ever given the chance to return to Paris this is where we would want to be and one of the nicest places we have ever been fortunate to come across on our travels.
How we have come to love this little apartment in Paradise. It has turned into our "home away from home" during our stay in Paris. Having this comfortable haven to return to at the end of each day has made our vacation even more special than we could have anticipated. The apartment offers every luxury that a traveler needs: a quiet place with plenty of room, extremely comfortable beds and luxury linens, a computer and wireless internet access, a fully equipped kitchen and a modernized bathroom. It is in a fabulous location within a short walk of the Metro, grocery stores, charming boutiques, and fabulous restaurants. Our greeter made our arrival quite special and she was available for any questions we had. This has been a truly marvelous experience and we WILL be back! Highly recommended. AAA+++ all the way. Thank you!
The Montmartre Hideaway apartment is a dream to stay. It connects 2 different neighborhoods of Paris, namely the Pigalle area with all the fancy, exotic stores, and the Montmartre, the most picturesque and original area in Paris. Upon entering the property you immediately feel "at home". It is a most warm and welcoming apartment. It is perfectly located (with 2 metro stations nearby) it is fully equipped with everything you may need, it has a beautiful window view...what more can you ask? Evelyne was a most welcoming greeter. A really friendly person. She explained everything to us in detail, starting from Paris scenery and places to visit and ending with how the washing machine operates. I lived there with my wife and 4 year old daughter for a week and we all miss it a lot... we miss the breakfast we had in the living room staring at Montmartre's rooftops. The only concern is that the apartment is on the 5th floor with no elevator, but this aspect is clearly stated in the property's description. All in all, this is a highly recommended company and a highly recommended property. Thanks for everything HIP.
I found the Montmartre Hideaway really fantastic! The location could not have been more perfect. The flat itself is beautiful(more so than in the pictures I think). I could not have been more impressed when I first walked through the door. I felt instantly at home and excited about my week ahead. I found the HiP guidebook of the apartment/local area really useful. My boyfriend and I went to 'Le Restaurant', as recommended in the guidebook, on our last night and had one of the best evenings of our trip. In all, I am so impressed with the Hip team - such a brilliantly run business! This was my first time in Paris and I loved it. I'm in the process of booking myself on a French language course and I look forward to renting with HiP and returning to Paris soon.
Loved, loved, loved the apartment. I think I cried when we first walked in and saw the antique patisserie sign. I found it much larger than the online images portray which was a nice surprise although I would've been happy either way (better to exceed expectation, right?) My only complaint is one of personal preference. The bed was too firm for me and I had trouble sleeping in it. I understand that this is Erica's apartment so if she likes a firm bed, it makes sense. The 5 flights of stairs became old hat by the third day. My newly firmed buttocks thank you;) Evelyn was our greeter and I wanted to shrink her down and stick her in my pocket, she was such a joy. She took extra time our first day going through every possible question we had and when we couldn't think of any more she'd think of a new one for us. You are lucky to have her!! Le Grenier Au Pain & the other blue store front boulangerie at the end of the block were incredible. What gems to have so close to the apt. Felafel place in the Marais L'As du Falafel was most definitely the best I've ever had.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Montmartre Hideaway apartment. It is in a great location, lots of natural light, beautiful wooden floors and a great shower. Christi our greeter was very pleasant and thorough and met us with a bottle of champagne which was a lovely start to our honeymoon. We would definitely stay in this accommodation again.
We enjoyed our stay in Paris. The flat worked very well for us. We found it clean and well appointed. Evleyne was very nice and did a good job explaining how to work all the items in the flat. There are a lot of stairs to climb but that was clearly explained before booking and we found it good exercise after going to the wonderful cafes, etc nearby. Overall we were very pleased with the whole process from booking to enjoying the flat during a wonderful week in Paris. Thank you to all the team.
We really enjoyed the apartment. There was no A/C, but it was well ventilated if you opened the windows. The only other thing was that there were LOTS of stairs - but you couldn't get the nice view without it. The location was near two Metro stops, and the apartment was fairly roomy (much more than a hotel!) and comfortable.
Loved it! Exactly as I pictured it. The terrace was my favorite spot but all four of us found our little nook very well laid out. Breeze from open windows was lovely. The towels were fluffy and abundant. Would definitely stay there again. Evelyne (our greeter) was wonderful...knowledgeable and eager to share. So enthusiastic! Her suggestions were right on the mark.
The apartment was exactly as represented, it was very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The extensive library was a bonus as there was a lot of information on Paris provided as well as a variety of material to suit most tastes. We enjoyed our stay and would be very happy to stay there (or in another Haven property). There are 5 flights of stairs but they're an easy climb and I'm over 60. The only drawback was that the stairwell and stairs were being redecorated (slowly)and it was constantly dusty on the stairs. There was no noise or dust in the unit though. On the whole a very enjoyable experience.
We returned home last Wednesday after having a wonderful stay in the Montmartre Hideaway Apartment. The apartment was quite lovely, spacious and comfortable. The views were pretty and we greatly enjoyed the village of Montmartre. We would absolutely love to use your services again. Being at Houdon was a privledge and a blessing. Thanks for all your help here in the US. We appreciate it. It really was an amazing experience and my family just LOVED the appartment.
We really enjoyed the Montmartre Hideaway apartment. Its comfortable, tidy but lived-in feeling really enhanced our stay in Paris. We felt quite at home, and really enjoyed feeling part of the neighborhood. Evelyne, our greeter, was really lovely and quite helpful. In addition to getting us acquainted with the ins and outs of the apartment she spent more than an hour with us annotating a map of Paris and making recommendations on where to go and what to see based on our interests. Her insider's knowledge of the city is very impressive. She was also responsive in replacing a broken computer mouse, and the times when we bumped into her now and then on the street made us feel like we had a friend looking out for us. In terms of things to improve, you might mention more prominently that the apartment is five flights up. I did find this information in some of the web comments from previous guests before our trip, but just ran across it incidentally. In our case, it was a concern due to my wife's arthritis, but we made the decision to go ahead anyway. (**Note from HiP: We have now made this fact more obvious on the apartment web page. Thank you for pointing it out, David!) We hope to use your service again, and have already recommended it to others. All the best.
We just returned yesterday from Paris and I'm just recovering from jet lag and the shock of returning to work. I just wanted to tell you again how impressed we are with your organization and how easy you made it for us to feel at home. Erica, what a wonderful apartment! The bed was comfy and we loved the fluffy towels! We enjoyed drinking wine at the little table on the balcony and watching the sun set at 10:30! Not used to the day being so long. We will recommend you to all our friends and in the future we'd like to visit your residences in the south of France. Cheers.
We had a fabulous time at the Montmartre Hideaway apartment in Paris- great location for the village vibe of Montmartre yet peaceful. The apartment was spotless with a very comfy bed, crisp sheets, fluffy towels and a well equipped kitchen of deceptively good size. Having the computer was great for planning days in Paris and the library of books was an added bonus! We had many lovely meals in the apartment and in the neighbourhood, we miss it already! We would love to return to the apartment and recommend both the property and Haven in Paris. Hotels no more!!
The Montmartre Hideaway apartment was everything we had hoped for and more. Evelyne (our greeter) was lovely - she made us feel very welcome. She explained everything about the apartment and even took us around the area to show us where to buy food and where to eat. The roses & wine were a beautiful touch. It was bitterly cold during our week in Paris but the apartment was so warm and comfortable. And having a computer with internet access was great - so helpful. Apart from the cold, the entire experience was fantastic - we are already planning our next trip back. We will definitely stay in another HIP apartment.
I had hoped for a comfortable home away from home in a neighborhood so that I could be in Paris, not a tourist in Paris. The Montmartre Hideaway flat was perfectly situated in Montmartre, with easy access to shops and the Metro, not to mention the tastes and colors of the area. The apartment was superbly equipped, and the view over the roofs of Paris to the top of L'Arc de Triomphe just provided the icing on the cake. Evelyne (my greeter) was great. She gave me a tour of the apartment and specific instructions on the washer and dryer, etc. Then she walked me around the neighborhood, pointing out places to shop and eat, among other things. She was very helpful with suggestions on things to do and out-of-the-way sites to visit. She and her husband invited me for an aperitif chez eux, and that was an added bonus. You helped make me feel at home from the first phone calls and first look at the website, and it only got better from there. I'll be back! Merci.
I had a terrific stay in the Montmartre Hideaway apartment. It felt a little strange at first to be in an apartment that was so obviously lived in, but because of that the apartment felt much more looked after and added to the feeling of actually being a little part of a little part of Paris for a short while! The apartment itself was lovely and the kitchen was so well equipped it was a pleasure to use. We decided to have Christmas in the apartment and had a lovely lunch and dinner with friends. The fold out bed was terrific and all in all it was a terrific choice, because as you say making a decision based on internet information is risky. Our greeter, Evelyn, was lovely and brought her husband to help with the luggage up the stairs, as both my companion and I have recently had operations which make lugging heavy suitcases unsuitable! She explained everything about the apartment and took me on a tour of the location to show me where everything was, and made sure we were comfortable. Most importantly, the apartment was beautifully warm! I would have no hesitation in recommending your site to anyone, and am grateful to Henrietta Taylor, who recommended it to me! Thanks once again. Your booking operation is well organised and runs smoothly. Regards, and Happy New Year
We have loved spending our honeymoon at the Montmartre Hideaway apartment, We had everything we needed and more. The Kitchen was extremely well stocked with all the equipment you could ever need, and the cupboards full of essentials (herbs, spices, sauces, coffee, and as many different teas as i have ever seen!!) Our Greeter was lovely, we would recommend this apartment to anyone.
I have just returned from Europe and I must admit that my favorite part of my trip was staying in your apartment in Paris all alone for an entire week. If I did not have two wonderful daughters waiting at home for me, I would have stayed forever. I have always love Paris and the apartment was exactly what I was looking for. I loved the neighborhood, the five flights up (except for my luggage), the Paris rooftop view, the bed by the window, the amazing wood floors, the artwork and the book selection. I would say the only very small suggestion would be better lighting in the living room, but that could just be my old eyes and the fact that I was knitting with dark colored wool. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and chatting with Evelyne (my greeter). She was warm and friendly and very helpful. So again, thank you for the grand stay. It is a memory I will recall often. Happy Holidays.
We cannot say enough good things about this apartment, and about Haven In Paris. They took such good care of us while we were there. Erica even helped arrange a photographer to take some beautiful engagement pictures. We enjoyed everything and would return in a heartbeat! Thank you!
The Apt was very charming. Hopefully we can book something in the future.
We were very apprehensive about renting a property over the internet versus staying at a reputable hotel. The HIP experience was outstanding - service was excellent and very organized. The Montmartre Hideaway property was amazing - great value and very well located being only a block from the metro. Nice quite street yet close to all the action. After a long day of sightseeing it is nice to come back to a place with lots of room to kick back, relax, and enjoy another bottle of wine. Computer with internet access was also a nice touch. Thanks for everything - we will definitely use HIP on our next journey.
I cannot imagine a more seamless visit to Paris. Our greeter went out of her way to settle us into the apartment and introduce us to the neighborhood. I felt completely at home and soon was referring to "my apartment". We particularly loved watching the play of light in the late evening through the large windows and from the balcony after a day spent walking the city. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
Loved the apt,the ease of making all the arrangements etc. The area, once we found Abbesses was great. Callie had her hang out at the cafe reading her book experience she wanted, and I felt it ok for her to be up there.. Until dark of course! Greeters both Evelyne and Kyra were great. My calves are in great shape! Enjoyed it all very much. I am missing my chocolate croissants! Thanks so much...I did love going up the hill for those... ok well sending Gary up the hill. I have already suggested you on Fodors Talk... Ps Eric said to say HI (Cookin' with Class)... loved the cooking class.. We also did the Hidden Kitchen.. that was excellent.
We loved staying at the Montmartre Hideaway apartment! We will recommend Haven in Paris to friends and colleagues traveling to France, and we may even return ourselves in the next year or two. The Haven in Paris staff were really kind and helpful Your place has a lovely vibe and we really enjoyed the neighborhood! (I have stayed in Paris before but never in Montmartre)."
This was a first trip to Paris for a Mother and 18yo daughter. We prefer staying in homes/flats vs hotels on vacation. The Montmartre Hideaway was perfect and we felt like residents of Montmartre for the week. We loved the area and convenience of the Metro stops. Our greeter was lovely and available for any suggestions/information. The flat was comfortable with anything you could possibly need. The computer with internet access was so valuable! Other highlights of our trip: Fat Tire Bike Tours (day trip in Paris and day in Versailles), evening concert at Sainte-Chappelle and cooking class with Cook'n With Class (found through link with HIP) When we plan a visit again, our first call will be to HIP!
The owner stayed in excellent connect with us throughout the whole process when we were deciding where to stay. She was honest and a great help. The actual apartment was clean, homey, and comfortable. Our greeter Evelyne was amazing as she answered all of our questions, was extremely friendly and welcoming, and continued to stay in contact with us and help in any way our whole trip. We had everything we could need and more at the apartment not mention how nicely it was decorated. Our trip was excellent in part to having a wonderful place to come home to at the end of an exhausting day. If we ever go back to Paris we will not have to think twice about where to stay.
Your apartment was great – wouldn’t change a thing (I would have bought it myself as its in the perfect spot). Your greeter, Evelyne, was great also – very helpful and she was there if you needed her. I know my way around pretty well so I’m not the typical case but I could tell she was concerned and legitimately friendly (it wasn’t an act). I would say of all the apartment rentals I’ve had in Paris, this was the best (and I’ve had 20-30 supposed “high end” apartments).
I have stayed in apartment rentals all over Paris since 1990 - the city has come of age with modernity in accommodation but rentals are a complete roll of the dice. Not with Haven in Paris. If you are coming to Paris for the first time or for the tenth time, I strongly recommend you leave the worry behind and let the professional staff at HIP do all the work. The apartment is one of the best I have stayed in - it is the perfect accommodation to explore the city but you still feel like a local. It is very close to the Metro, it is modern, clean, comfortable and everything is there for you including a view over the rooftops of the city and even voltage/wattage converters so you can leave yours at home. Of most importance, EVERYTHING WORKS to a high standard (not what you will find in other apartments that claim to be renovated). A+ all around.
We've been back from Paris less than two weeks and I've already recommended HIP to three other people. The apartment was squeaky clean, comfortable and full of art. The bed was especially comfy. We immediately felt at home. Every detail was considered - there was even coffee in the cupboard when we got there! We will come back to Paris and to this apartment and we will use HIP for travels to other parts of the world, as well. I've used other apartment rental on-line services but will use HIP in the future because they offer a much better value and quality of apartment.
My 2 month trip to Paris was a wonderful experience for me. Having raised a family and been a hard worker all my life, it was sublime to have the time to experience the city and myself, relatively alone and without work. The apartment played a large part in my comfort level. It is comfortable, convenient, the views from both sides are lovely. The kitchen is terrific - all the equipment easy to use and high quality. (I'm a gas stove cook, but thought your electric was about as good as electric can get.) The bedroom is quiet, the bed just right. Even my very fussy husband thought so. The stairs were not a problem, except for moving in and out, of course. I am most grateful for the climbs, having eaten like a pig and actually lost weight during my stay. I could get anywhere in the city from the two Metro lines close by - easily. Most of all, the light in the apartment on sunny days is superb. I did take a cooking class from Eric (www.cooknwithclass.com) and enjoyed it very much. He is a good teacher - just the right mix of direction, enjoyment, and laissez faire. Without the class, I never would have discovered the beautiful market, cheese shop, butcher, and fish monger, near to Jules Joffrin. I did join a gym, cercles de la forme, and was welcomed and very comfortable working out there. The language school I attended, E.L.F.E, in the 9th off Rue Ballu, is very good, a lovely location and an easy 10-15 minute walk from the apartment. Very expensive, but they all are. I would recommend Haven in Paris to family and friends wholeheartedly. I have heard some horrifying stories of rentals, but I was well taken care of and had a delightful stay. It was very hard to leave - that is the most sincere praise for your lovely place. I'm sure I'll be coming back and will be in touch when my plans are clear.
We had a terrific time while in Paris and a lot of what made it that way was having your apartment as our "base of operations". Let me say how much we really enjoyed the apartment, the neighborhood, and, most importantly, your suggestions and recommendations. After a very short time we were residents rather than merely visitors and it was mainly due to your guidance and advice. Thank you so very much -- it was right on! Along with that, Kyra( our greeter) reinforced everything you recommended and clued us in to a few other things. Moving in (and, unfortunately, moving out) was a breeze, and her introduction to the apartment and neighborhood smoothed the way for us in all respects. We also appreciate her arranging our ride to the gare upon our departure. All the best,
The only reason my rating for "property meet up to your expectations" was only "better" and not "excellent" is that the website does such a great job of describing the apartment that our expectations were already high. We were in Montmartre for a week in the first half of June. The location was great; the apartment was just as we had hoped; the trip was wonderful. I highly recommend Haven in Paris as an organization to contact. The notebook provided in the apartment was very useful both for instructions on how to use appliances provided (washer, dryer, stove, etc.) and for the pointers it provided to restaurants and stores in the area.
Erica, You have set up a wonderful operation! From the beginning I was impressed when you responded back immediately on a Sunday no less to let me know of available properties. The Montmartre Hideaway is charming, larger than we anticipated. Having the Macintosh computer made staying in touch with family very easy. This is my first experience staying in an apartment while traveling. It's great, allowing much flexibility. The one take away I have is that you don't need to pack as much when there is a washer and dryer available to you. Next time I will save the back and pack lighter. I intend to come again with my Mother and will again choose to stay in one of HIPs apartments! PS: Chris also was impressed! Lisa Grimsley, Morristown, NJ Christopher Burds, Atlanta, GA
We had a wonderful holiday made even better by the accommodation we enjoyed at your apartment in Paris. We traveled to other cities and stayed in other apartments and Paris was the best. I was especially impressed that you seemed to anticipate the questions we might have and there was so much information on the city and the area. I would have no problem renting from you again and would certainly recommend it to my friends and family.
Apartment living is the way to stay and this apartment was, let's say, perfect for us. We shall return to Paris and we'll most definitely look first with Haven in Paris. Thanks Erica for your very good taste (loved your art and comfortable linens et al) and to Kyra for your assistance with tips and so on. We really did have a wonderful time, due in no small part to our stay in your abode. As a North American tourist, I think that the way in which you run things and, follow up on things, is well done. We found Kyra to be very, very helpful and certainly appreciated that she let us know that we could contact her any time that we needed to. Also, Elysee Cars were tops... and we are so glad that we took your advice to make those arrangements - ground transportation to and from the airport couldn't have been smoother for us!This was great and just a Google away! A Bientot and merci!
Apartment living suits us much better than does a hotel stay, for anything more than a couple of days. Haven in Paris is a very efficient, professional organization and made the process painless. God is in the details and the important ones, for us, were provided for. There are 93 steps to this apartment, but you'll love what awaits you. A very light, clean, airy, creative space. The birds in the courtyard in the back were always singing and the bells in the local Basilica were often chiming... we loved Paris in the springtime and this rue Houdon apartment. When we return, we'll definitely look first with Haven in Paris!
The Montmartre Hideaway is truly a "Haven in Paris". The apartment is very comfortable and in such a great location. The restaurant recommendations in your useful information guide were excellent. We had great meals at Le restaurant and Le Grand Colbert. Having the Internet has made our stay very easy. It enabled us to do research on places we needed to go within Paris. Additionally having Kyra to greet us was wonderful. She showed us around the apartment and was very helpful with questions that we had upon arriving in Paris. We will definitely be back to Paris in the future and will make our home for our Paris trip at either rue Houdon or one of the other Haven in Paris properties.Thank you for having a place that makes you feel right at home when you are so far away.
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Paris and staying in this apartment. Everything was exactly as pictured on the website, and the apartment was even more comfortable and welcoming than it appeared on the site. Erica's recommendations were all spot-on as far as the type of restaurant, locations, etc. The location was great for getting around the city, and there were lots of options for a quick dinner out or to prepare your own. The reservation process was simple and quick. I had been apprehensive about renting an apartment over the internet, but my experience with Haven in Paris was exceptional and I am glad I did! I will definitely be back and have recommended this site to everyone I know.
Being our first trip outside of the US, we were not sure what to expect going to Paris. The reservation process with HIP was easy and all of our questions were answered in a timely manner. At the apartment, Kyra was a great help and very pleasant welcome. She answered all of our questions, gave wonderful advice and was available if we needed anything as well as checked in with us during our stay. The location of the apartment is great with the Metro stations nearby and all of the Montmartre offerings. We thouroughly enjoyed our week in Paris and will rent from HIP when we return.
I can't say enough about the apartment. I fell in love with it on the website when I first came across it and it feels like home. Coming here has re-inspired me in my career as a designer - I love the textiles here there is a richness that we don't really see at home too much. The library of interior books, like my collection is many and some I now have to add! I wish I had more time and money to bring more things back. Anyway, long story short I love it here. Montmartre couldn't have been a better place to stay and getting around has been easy. Here is the link the my Paris blog with photos of this apartment and comments from my trip: www.soulstorming.com
We thoroughly enjoyed the flat. It was very comfortable and homey. You have decorated it very nicely. We loved your very detailed and specific instructions on how to use everything in the flat. We rented several other apartments none of which gave even a verbal explanation of the appliances. We LOVED the dryer and are trying to locate one with a similiar water drainage system to buy for our own home. Kyra, our greeter, was wonderful. Kind, thoughtful, helpful and informative. Very bright pleasant young woman. She's a perfect up front contact for this business. Overall, our Paris stay was my favorite, I'm sure to a great degree because of the comfort of your flat. Thanks so much for renting your flat to us. If we return we will contact you for sure, as well as pass on the recommendation to anyone we know travelling that way.
We loved this apartment! It's as adorable as the pictures suggest, and we were very very pleased. Having 2 Metro stops within a block of apt also gave us easy and quick access to anywhere in Paris! I truly will never stay in a hotel in Paris again. Our greeter (Kyra) was wonderful, and made us feel right at home. The apt had everything.. modern appliances, plenty of space, lots of reading matieral and maps, and plenty of nice little touches throughout... loved the welcome fresh flowers and wine! Thanks so much for sharing your apt with us... it really made our stay in Paris exceptional!
We both want to thank you, and your associates, for making our stay in Paris such a wonderful experience. The apartment was perfect for our first visit, and your recommended car service provided us with excellent time saving service. Carrie was wonderful, helping us get settled and to feel like "guests". The "peace of mind" we felt, knowing someone was there to assist, is a big part of what made our Paris visit so memorable. We look forward to visiting again soon. Again, thank you for being a part of a lifetime memory for us.
What a wonderful experience! Anyone who wants to live like a Parisian should absolutely stay in this apartment. I truly felt like I was at home (but with much better kitchen appliances than I actually have at home). The location was perfect (two métro stations within arm's reach!), and Montmartre is such a great place - truly a village. Of course, without all the great people at HIP, the best apartment in Paris would mean nothing. Erica and Alain are the ultimate hosts who went out of their way to make sure my stay was exceptional. And Kyra (my greeter) was delightful, and did everything possible to ensure I was comfortable in the apartment.
I want to thank you so much for making our trip to Paris perfect! You were very helpful through the whole reservation process, and even while we were in Paris our greeter was available for any questions we had. The flat was comfortable and immaculate- it was like a home away from home. I will strongly recommend Havin in Paris to my friends...and I'll be back as well.
This was our first trip to Paris and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The apartment was perfect for the three of us - my wife, daughter and me; much more comfortable and relaxed for an extended stay than a hotel. The apartment was light and airy and very quiet - just what we were looking for. The decor and artwork gave it a nice homey feel and the balcony view was great. The remodeled bathroom was comfy and unique and the kitchen well stocked. Erica was very attentive from the initial rental through our stay in Paris and Carrie did an excellent job of meeting us and introducing us to the apartment and the neighborhood. Enjoying the lively Montmartre neighborhood was a real treat, and getting to the inner city was an easy metro ride.
I loved the Paris apartment. My husband and daughters had a wonderful stay in the apartment and loved the Montmarte area! The town was so charming and the restaurants you recommended were excellent. I did not personally meet Carrie but Steve said she was helpful and professional. She returned our calls promptly and she helped my girls with their questions and concerns. I loved the art work and the layout of the flat. The kitchen was easy to cook in and the bathroom very modern and beautiful. I would rent the apartment again and will encourage my friends to stay in that flat or one of the other flats you have. We had such a wonderful time in Paris and staying in the Houdon flat made even more enjoyable.
L'appartement etait tres tres sympa est Carrie, our greeter etait tres genial!
We had a spectacular time in the apartment and loved the light, airy feeling of the apartment and its wonderful roof top views. The apartment was very well equipped and it felt comfortable, warm and welcoming. We felt like we were "home". We felt the 93 steps justified and extra croissant and when you're in Paris, eating all the extraordinary food, every bit of exercise helps. . We also had an excellent introduction to the place from Carrie. We definitely plan to rent the apartment again on our next visit---we love the neighbor as well.
The process of renting the flat was easy, I appreciated the quick replies to my emails and being able to pay by check before arriving. One thing that would have help me during my stay would have been the offer of a wake-up call on departure day. I changed apartments 4 days into my stay and therefore was in vacation mode and didn't think to set an alarm. This made departing a scramble. The apartment and location were charming. Thank you - Maureen Maclise (Haven in Paris Note: We are always very happy to give our clients a wake up call .... please feel free to ask us anytime. Otherwise, we keep an alarm clock in the flat for just this purpose...Sorry for the confusion!)
Wonderful experience...far exceeds staying in a hotel!Montmartre location was superb and extremely convenient for the rest of Paris. We have already recommended Haven in Paris to several friends and will certainly be returning ourselves. In short, great neighbourhood, great apartment and great service from everyone involved.....thank you for adding considerably to our Paris experience.
The apartment was even nicer than it looked in the pictures. It had a charming, home-like feeling, and was spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The location was great, close to the subway and in a very nice neighborhood. The kitchen appliances were significantly better than what I have typically encountered in Europe, and it was great to have internet access too. As noted on the web site, it is a 5th floor walk-up, which would be challenging for anyone unused to physical activity, but for everyone else it is a great option I would highly recommend.
I booked the Montmartre Hideaway apartment to share with a colleague during a week-long conference at La Sorbonne. I have been to Paris several times and I was hoping to immerse myself in the local culture rather than play the role of a tourist once again. Given the apartment's location and the time of year (July), we expected hoardes of tourists, but this wasn't the case (as a tourist myself, maybe I'm being hypocritical!). We watched World Cup finals in a bar with local residents, and we all cried when Zidane got the red card. The apartment was a perfect solution for a Euro wannabe. It's in a quiet, residential building conveniently located between two metro stops on a street that is relatively quiet (except during World Cup matches, thankfully!). Small, late-night grocery stores and excellent bakeries are within a few steps of the apartment, as is the charming Rue des Abbesses, loaded with cafes and unique shops. We ate at Chez Grisette, which is right next door, and the owner treated us like kings. Try the foie gras, boudin, and terrine. You can't miss. As far as the apartment itself, let me just say that it exceeds the seductive photos on the web site. The balcony view is outstanding, there is a constant cool breeze on the hottest of days, the shower is riduculously pampering for Paris, the appliances are modern, and there was a bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge. Even the pull-out bed was comfortable. Would I rent it again? What do you think?! I was selfishly tempted not to write this review, just so I could keep the place a secret.
Great apartment in a dynamic area of Paris. The apartment's interior design was great-- urban-modern, comfortable, and clean. Also, the apartment was easily accessable-- only a half-block from the Pigalle Metro Station.
Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay. Thanks for all your help.
I had never stayed in an apartment before during my visits to Paris. But now that I have, I will never go back to hotel stays. The Montmartre Hideaway apartment made my visit in Paris much more personal and relaxing. The owner ensured every detail of our stay was comfortable. The place was cozy, clean and convenient. I didn't want to leave.
The Montmartre Hideaway is perfect for travel aficionados looking to immerse themselves in a true Parisian setting. The apartment is wonderful – cozy and charming with old wooden floors that creak monstrously but lend beautifully to the quaintness of the area. Erica is a meticulous flat rental owner; she left behind a warehouse of helpful information, including detailed instructions on using the washer/dryer/dishwasher. The bathroom was utterly divine with a huge showerhead and anyone who has stood under the trickle of a creaky European shower will appreciate the monumental importance of a decent bathroom. I highly, highly recommend staying here! I don’t think I could stay in a hotel after this!
My Mom and I spent almost a week at Erica’s apartment. We had a great time there. The apartment itself is most pleasant, very spacious and light. We loved the decoration and were especially impressed by the extravagant bathroom. The living room looks onto the street but is not noisy at all. The bedroom is on the courtyard side and it is perfectly quiet. It is a cozy and homey apartment where you feel at ease right away. The apartment is situated in one of the loveliest neighborhoods of Paris; Abbesses , which is my favorite area in the city. It is a 2 minutes walk to the charming Abbesses square, the rue Lepic with its lively market, shops and restaurants. At the other end of the street is the bustle of Pigalle, with plenty of cafés, exotic little restaurants, etc. The Sacre Coeur is also very close. The apartment is also very well situated as far as public transport is concerned. You can choose between the metro stations Abbesses or Pigalle and one of the most scenic buses of Paris, the 67, that crosses the whole city , has its stop at the bottom of the street. Erica’s apartment is the perfect place to enjoy everything Paris has to offer and unwind after a tiring day in the city. It is both comfortable and stylish and I am sure anybody staying there will have a wonderful time, just as we had.
This lovely apartment is quiet and comfortable. The beautiful kitchen has everything and more. The living room is perfect if you need to withdraw yourself from busy Paris. Paris is right downstairs. This "quartier" on the slope of Montmartre seems almost unknown by tourists. The small shops, bars and restaurants, almost exclusively visited by locals, are among the nicest places in Paris. M. Alexander
I have been thinking about my stay in Monmartre. One of the things that made it most wonderful was the apartment we stayed in. It was light and airy and beautiful. The doors that opened from floor to ceiling leading out to the small terraces where we could have our morning coffee, and where we could have our evening glass of wine while watching the sunset...I loved the antique fixtures on all the windows, the earthiness of opening and closing the wooden doors to the terrace. We got used to the 98 steps up to the apartment. It was our workout after sampling the French pastries. We are New Yorkers so we were not upset by the sex industry one block away. We found it really amusing the way old ladies with their canvas bags with bread and cheese just walked by the porno shops, families sat in a cafe' next door to a burlesque house. I loved walking the winding blocks up and down in Monmartre. I will always stay in Monmartre from now on, it is so much more funky that the left bank, and the subways are very easy to get all over Paris. I loved the subway station with its painted murals, and the apartment was heavenly. There are breezes all times of the day, looking out the windows and watching the light hit the different buildings, seeing the clay rooftops added so much to our trip. I would recommend this wonderful apartment to anyone that is willing to make the trip up the 98 steps to get there. well worth it! i know I will be back!
It was the first time we decided to try to rent an apartment in a foreign country so we were naturally hesistant. We read all the positive testimonials and found Erica to be friendly and reassuring in emails and on the phone, so we went ahead with it. We're very glad we did! Everything was as promised - the location, the value, and the experience were all great. It was so much fun to meet Erica in person (who graciously got us all the apartment and Paris information we'd ever need), and then live for a week in a beautiful Montmartre apartment, steps away from shops and two different Metro lines.
As I arrived at the Montmartre Hideaway after a long day of travel, and settled into the comforting atmosphere of Erica Berman's fifth-story apartment, I knew instantly that I'd made the best decision on accommodation for my two-week stay in Paris. Erica prepared lunch of fresh salad, cheese and warm baguette for my colleagues and me while we all relaxed with glasses of wine and took in the broad swath of the city visible from the flower and herb-lined balcony of her flat. Erica instantly put us all at ease, talking to us about good local restaurants for all occasions and price ranges, weekend markets and shops throughout the city for any and everything we could want to buy during our stay, and passing along secrets of the city surely never to cross the lips of any hotel concierge. Erica's presence is familiar, professional and reassuring; ultimately more personal than any hotel or resort staff could ever be. We were provided with all the amenities of home and after only a day, I'd settled into the flat as though it was my own secret pied-a-terre where I'd escaped for the autumn. Every aspect of our stay, from the beds to the kitchen to the collection of books in the shelves along the wall leading to the balcony view of the city, was perfect. After my experience with Erica's property and service there is no way I'll ever stay in a hotel in Paris ever again because Paris is a city that needs to be lived in to experience it fully, and settling into the creature comforts provided by Ms. Berman is the surest way to experience the magic of the city as it was intended. There is, quite simply, no substitute. Will Sullivan Journalist
Our stay in the apartment was very comfortable and convenient. Setting out on foot or via Metro to explore Paris could not have been easier. We were given a useful orientation to the apartment and the area by Alain, who was gracious and congenial. Any questions we had during our stay were quickly answered by Alain or Erica. We particularly enjoyed the Paris views from the balcony and living room, the well equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed and everything we needed for light housekeeping. The Abbesses area of Montmartre, which was at our doorstep,is charming, lively and convenient for our shopping needs, both fine and funky restaurants and more than enough cafes. We felt very safe staying here. All in all, this was a delightful place to have as a base in Paris.
